Hello to everyone in this community and fellow drawing enthusiasts! I recently received something I'd wanted for a long time: some dual-tip markers. I'd been wanting a good variety of markers for years, since I always ended up buying those cheap packs with fewer than a dozen, and they'd dry out from lack of use, haha. So, I thought I'd do a quick drawing to test them out.
The little bag comes with 100 markers! That's more than I expected! And as I mentioned, they're double-ended; that is, they have a fine tip on one end and a broad tip on the other. There are so many colors that I don't know where to start when I use them, haha, but I'll take the time in the next few days to make a chart with each number and its corresponding color, so I don't get confused when I'm coloring and know which color to choose.
My inspiration came from a photograph I took during my stay here in the countryside. Sometimes, some of the plants bear fruit, and on this occasion, I had the opportunity to see some tomatoes. Since childhood, I've imagined the existence of magical creatures that only I could see, so after seeing some comics and illustrations of beings similar to Lilliputians, I thought about doing something like that.
For this, I used a sketchbook my sister gave me. Its pages aren't for markers, but it's the only canvas I have to draw on here. I like the sketchbook's pages because they're somewhat porous and have a sepia tone. Once I'd drawn the plants and the fruit, I drew the little creatures climbing to reach it. Their clothes and accessories had to be made from natural materials like leaves and flowers.
Then, I started painting. It's worth mentioning that I'm not an expert at using markers. I know that, like any drawing material, it has its technique, but in this drawing, I focused on seeing how the markers painted. I confirmed that the paper wasn't the most suitable, as it absorbed a lot of the ink and bled through to the next sheet, so I had to use a piece of wood underneath to act as a barrier. Since I didn't know exactly how each marker painted, choosing the right shade was a challenge because I didn't test them before painting; instead, I relied on my intuition. Spoiler alert: Don't do that! It's better to test the color on a scrap of paper first to see if it's the one you want, and you'll avoid making a mess, haha.
But anyway, once I didn't know what else to do with the markers, I thought I'd "save" the drawing by outlining it with a fine-tipped black marker, because I felt like I'd lost all the details, and honestly, I liked how it turned out once I finished outlining it. It made me think of an illustration from a children's story about magical tales.
After this illustration, I've been inspired to practice using markers more. I've come across some videos on techniques, but the first thing I need to do, as I mentioned, is to create a color chart; that would be a huge help. 🎨

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de los dibujos! Hace poco me regalaron algo que querÃa desde hace tiempo: Unos marcadores de doble punta. Fuera de juego, tenÃa años queriendo tener una buena variedad de marcadores, ya que siempre acababa comprando los paquetes económicos que traen menos de la docena y se me y terminaban secando por falta de uso jaja Asà que, pensé en hacer un dibujo rápido para probarlos.
El bolsito trae 100 marcadores ¡Eso es más de lo que esperaba! Y como comenté, son doble punta; es decir, tiene punta fina de un lado y punta gruesa del otro extremo. Son tantos tonos que no sé por dónde empezar a la hora de usarlos jaja pero, me tomaré el tiempo en los próximos dÃas de elaborar una cartilla con cada número y su respectivo tono, para asà no confundirme a la hora de colorear y saber cuál color escoger.
Mi inspiración fue una fotografÃa que tomé durante mi estadÃa aquà en el campo. A veces, algunas de las plantas dan fruto y en esta ocasión, tuve la oportunidad de ver algunos tomates. Desde niña, me imaginaba la existencia de criaturas mágicas que sólo yo podÃa ver, asà que luego de ver algunos cómics e ilustraciones sobre seres parecidos a los liliputienses, pensé en hacer algo parecido.
Para ello, utilicé un block de dibujo que me regaló mi hermana y cuyas hojas, no son para marcadores, pero es el único lienzo que tengo para dibujar en este lugar. Me gustan las hojas del block, porque son algo porosas y de una tonalidad sepia. Una vez que hice el dibujo de lo que serÃa las plantas y el fruto, dibujé a los pequeños seres trepando para tomarlo. La ropita y accesorios, tenÃan que ser hechas de materiales naturales como hojas y flores.
Luego, comencé a pintar. Cabe mencionar que no soy experta usando marcadores. Sé que, como todo material de dibujo, tiene su técnica, pero en este dibujo me enfoqué en ver cómo pintaban los marcadores. Corroboré que el papel no es el más adecuado, pues absorbe mucho la tinta y se pasaba a la siguiente hoja, por lo que tuve que ayudarme con una tabla de madera por debajo, para que funcionara como una barrera. Como no sabÃa exactamente cómo pintaba cada marcador, escoger el tono adecuado al que querÃa, fue un desafÃo, porque no los probaba antes de pintar, sino que usaba mi intuición; spoiler: No hagan eso, mejor prueben primero en un trozo de papel si el color es el que quieren, asà se ahorrarán hacer un desastre jaja.
Pero bueno, una vez que no supe qué más hacer con los marcadores, pensé en "salvar" el dibujo delinéandolo con un marcador punta fina de color negro, porque sentÃa que habÃa perdido todos los detalles y la verdad, me gustó cómo quedó una vez que terminé de delinearlo. Me hizo pensar en una ilustración sacada de un cuento infantil sobre relatos mágicos.
Luego de esta ilustración, me he animado a aprovechar de prácticar más el uso de los marcadores. Me he encontrado con algunos videos sobre técnicas de uso, aunque lo primero que debo hacer es, como mencioné, elaborar la cartilla con los tonos, eso me serÃa de gran ayuda 🎨
