Back with another round of the Doodle Magic drawing challenge. This time we have a swooping pink shape that almost looked like it was in motion. Looking at those sharp points and curves, I immediately saw the flow of a really bold, stylized hairstyle.
I used the main bulk of the pink shape to define the character's hair, letting that back point become a fun little flip on top. I love how the bubble gum pink works against the muted colors of her brown winter coat and that cozy grey fluffy collar. Adding the small details like the white buttons and the light blue phone really brought the scene together and made it more interesting. It perfectly fits my love for clean lines and flat, simple color blocks that tell a story without getting too cluttered although at first I was tempted to add more details on the phone and coat. I am glad I held off. The challenge was definitely in fitting a whole personality into that specific silhouette, but it was so satisfying to see her come to life.
When you look at abstract shape above, do you usually see objects, or do you start imagining characters like I do? What do you see in this specific shape? grab your drawing materials and show us what you can make of it. Good luck and can't wait to see what you do next.
