Greetings my friends,
here is my quick sketch for this week’s SketchQuest contest done today while I was waiting for my laundry to get done and enjoying my morning with a hot cup of coffee.
When I saw the contest post, my brain didn’t immediately go to something big or grand. Instead, I kept thinking about how funny the ordinary tasks look when you imagine animals doing them. Like, the idea of a rat doing laundry made me laugh in a relatable kind of way plus I just saw one small mouse marching from the neighbor;s garden.
I sketched this rat standing in front of a washing machine, holding a shirt deciding if it is worth saving or the stain is just too hard to come off. He has got the detergent, the bottle, and the whole setup. And honestly? Same. That’s me every weekend, staring down laundry
The looseness of the lines is intentional too — I didn’t want it polished. I wanted it to look like a quick glimpse. That’s kind of how chores feel anyway: a blur, a pause, then suddenly it’s nighttime and you’re folding clothes wondering where the day went.
So yeah, my inspo is just the small, silly tenderness of everyday survival — even if you’re a rat, you’ve still gotta do your laundry.
No pressure.
Just observation.
Hope you like it
