Leyendo sobre las correctas decisiones financieras que los adultos mayores deberían tomar, encontré unas cuantas que yo mismo he recomendado, tales como, si tienes un buen plan de jubilación, tratar de no complicarse la existencia.
Más, se recomienda, igualmente, mantenerse activo mental y físicamente, lo que es básico en esta edad.
Pero también existe el hecho de que los adultos mayores, muchas veces, son una carga adicional en las familias.
Así que, con tantos emprendimientos posibles, gracias a la Tecnología de la Información y de las Comunicaciones, es lógico preguntarse si podrían nuestros adultos mayores emprender; y definitivamente sí, y como parte del trabajo para mantenerse activos física y mentalmente.
¿Emprender a esta edad?
Es decir que, de cada 10 mujeres mayores de 55 años, 6 no cuentan con ingresos de pensión o empleo, lo que hace que este grupo sea de gran precariedad económica, solo en ese país latinoamericano.
Un problema que no solo atañe a los adultos mayores, sino que es parte de la lucha por una igualdad de género social.
¿Cómo podemos ayudar a incentivar a nuestros adultos mayores a que en esta etapa de la vida, en la que tiene más tiempo porque no dependen de trabajo limitante, puedan aportar en sus familias, ayudarse y dejar de ser una carga?
Hay muchas ideas que funcionarían a esta edad
Existen muchos países donde la seguridad social y las pensiones hacen que la gente de más de 55 años pueda retirarse, en forma holgada, económicamente.
Pero en Latinoamérica, muchos de los adultos mayores representan una carga para sus familias debido a sus limitaciones físicas, y son considerados poco posibles emprendedores.
Muchos de los adultos, al jubilarse -y es una de las sugerencias que se les da, de que no gasten todo, ni designen todo como herencia a sus hijos y nietos-, podrían utilizar este dinero que reciben al finalizar sus trabajos para tener negocios rentables para esa edad y que le proporcionen interacción social.
Es posible mejorar sus conocimientos de tecnología, ofrecer su experiencia a otros más jóvenes o desarrollar habilidades como la creación de artesanías y la pintura, que antes no pudieron realizar por falta de tiempo, y convertirlos en negocios prósperos.
Podrían comenzar un pequeño negocio de inversión de bienes y raíces, comprar un inmueble, mejorarlo en lo posible y alquilarlo o venderlo a un precio más alto.
Esto puede convertirse en un negocio familiar que podrían dejar luego a sus hijos o nietos...
Igualmente, invertir en un pequeño café o restaurante, donde pudieran utilizar la creatividad para el menú, e incluso, desarrollar la decoración temática, y que a la vez pueda representar un espacio de interacción social, -que es tan necesaria-, que deje dividendos.
Podría ser una excelente idea la venta de artesanías, pinturas, tejidos, que además de que representan una buena inversión de tiempo y de creatividad, pudiera generar ingresos.
Mientras se tenga pasión y energía, se pudiera ser un guía de turismo local, un anfitrión remunerado por recibir en su casa, dar clases virtuales de cocina o de lo que sabe.
¿Y por qué no?, convertirse en un asistente virtual o en una especie de asesor, que les obligue a mejorar sus habilidades tecnológicas y a trabajar desde la comodidad de su casa.
Preservar la autonomía es importante
En el portal de econexia.com hay un artículo sobre oportunidades de emprendimiento para el adulto mayor, y observamos que es importante para preservar la autonomía, que pueda emprender con flexibilidad laboral y con la capacidad de tomar decisiones.
Esto lo mantendría activo.
El Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE) en Colombia, por ejemplo, indica que la participación de los adultos mayores en el mercado laboral es el 30%, y que en ciudades como Barranquilla el adulto mayor tiene una participación laboral en un 34.4%
Entonces, no es imposible, ni descabellado.
Después de cierta edad comenzar a emprender genera reforzamiento de las habilidades físicas y mentales del ser humano.

Entrepreneurship is possible for our seniors -Reflections- In Space of Power
Reading about the right financial decisions that seniors should make, I found a few that I myself have recommended, such as, if you have a good retirement plan, try not to complicate your existence.
Plus, it is also recommended to stay mentally and physically active, which is basic at this age.
But there is also the fact that older adults are often an additional burden on families.
So, with so much entrepreneurship possible, thanks to Information and Communications Technology, it is logical to ask if our seniors could be entrepreneurs; and definitely yes, and as part of the work to stay physically and mentally active.
Entrepreneurship at this age?
For example, 62.3% of older women in Colombia live in poverty, while 37.7% of men do.
In other words, 6 out of every 10 women over 55 years of age have no income from pensions or employment, which makes this group a very precarious economic group in this Latin American country alone.
This is a problem that not only affects older adults, but is also part of the struggle for social gender equality.
How can we help to encourage our seniors to contribute to their families, help themselves and stop being a burden at this stage of life, when they have more time because they do not depend on limited work?
There are many ideas that would work at this age
There are many countries where social security and pensions make it possible for people over 55 to retire comfortably financially.
But in Latin America many of the older adults represent a burden for their families due to their physical limitations, and they are considered not very entrepreneurial.
Many of the adults, when they retire -and this is one of the suggestions given to them, that they should not spend everything, nor designate everything as inheritance to their children and grandchildren-, could use the money they receive at the end of their jobs to have profitable businesses for that age and that provide them with social interaction.
It is possible to improve their knowledge of technology, offer their experience to younger people or develop skills such as crafting and painting, which they were unable to do before due to lack of time, and turn them into thriving businesses.
They could start a small real estate investment business, buy a property, improve it as much as possible and rent or sell it at a higher price.
This can become a family business that they could then leave to their children or grandchildren...
Likewise, investing in a small café or restaurant, where they could use their creativity for the menu, and even develop the thematic decoration, and that at the same time could represent a space for social interaction, -which is so necessary-, that leaves dividends.
It could be an excellent idea to sell handicrafts, paintings, fabrics, which besides representing a good investment of time and creativity, could generate income.
*As long as you have passion and energy, you could be a local tour guide, a paid host in your home, give virtual cooking classes or whatever you know about.
And why not, become a virtual assistant or a kind of consultant, forcing them to improve their technological skills and work from the comfort of their home.
Preserving autonomy is important
In the econexia.com portal there is an article on entrepreneurship opportunities for the elderly, and we note that it is important to preserve autonomy, that you can undertake with work flexibility and with the ability to make decisions.
This would keep them active.
