I used to think joining my family business would mean more freedom and a legacy.
Yet slowly, that dream of continuing my family business slowly composting into something far more complicated. I never had this kind of complication because I used to operate on my own with the help of a few people I really trusted. Everyone knows my capability and how successful things can be.
Recently, I made a mistake discussing and telling my plans to my half-brother who treats my story like a personal audition for a villain origin story.
Honestly, he deserves his own chapter to be talked about today.
Once, I told him what I wanted to do to grow my business and what has been entrusted to me. Yet, he seems to be allergic to making things easy and every discussion becomes a debate. I walk with a solution, he walks in with thirty more problems.
I just donโt spend the energy to run the business but also spend time managing him, which is unpaid labor with no benefits and terrible work culture. So, I become sort of like an air controller, navigating between all these and to make sure the business entrusted to me still runs and works.
Thereโs a particular exhaustion that comes from it and on top of that, the domestic chores that I have to do which multiply out of nowhere. So, my energy has spread a bit too thin lately and resulting in extreme exhaustion and burning out.
Oh, the money.
Just when I thought I finally had that little number that could mean profit, and maybe I could finally exhale. There were more unexpected costs that bleed into business expenses. Then, exhaling gets postponed again.
This is its own headache and perhaps something less talked about.
So, here I am standing amidst all these and trying not to burn things down. The best I can do is certainly just writing my hearts out to vent a little here.
Let this be some kind of a reminder just like what Iโve been through before, Iโll have a lot more gratitude and know that I can get through it all.
See you around!
