Hello beautiful Hivers!
I've read from our very hardworking admin about this week's community challenge which is about animal/animals and I have just the perfect experience to share with you that happened last May 8th 2023. This is quite a long post but I assure you as you go along, you will enjoy the tour of Zoobic Safari animal Park for they have loads of animals inside the park plus the highlight is the close encounter with the Lions and tigers. We get to feed them and took some selfies with them!! Awesome! So just relax and please do prepare some popcorn or some snacks if you like for I will share some videos of the animals there as well.
Okay, are you ready?? Role camera please!!😍😍
Part of our city is the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. A brief history about Subic Bay.
Subic Bay Freeport Zone or SBFZ has a total of 67,000 hectares of industrial, commercial, and protected territory. It is known to be the first successful conversion of a military base into an economic zone. For nearly a century, it was Subic Naval Base, the largest naval facility of the United States in the Pacific. It has 262 square miles or 678 square kilometers almost the same size as the country Singapore. The US Naval Base moved out from our country because of the eruption of the volcano, Mt. Pinatubo which was so devastating. The eruption cost $700 million in damage, $100 million of which was damage to 16 aircraft flying at the time of the eruption and $250 million in property with the rest a combination of agriculture, forestry and land.

Subic Bay has a lot of tourist attractions now and one of them is the Zoobic Safari.
May 8th was a Monday and during Monday's it is the preparation day or P-day of our church missionaries. It is the day where they do all their chores like doing the laundry, marketing, grab some groceries or visiting places that they want to visit as long as it is within the bounds of their districts or area where they are assigned.
It was a beautiful day, summer was on its peak so it was really a bright, sunny day.
The trip took us around 30 minutes. We arrived there just before eight o'clock. Their ticket office has just opened and we were the first one's to arrive. Their parking lot was still empty well probably because it was a Monday usually the place is so busy during weekends starting Fridays. So it felt good because it was just us so we can avoid long lines and groups of people.
Upon entering the Safari you have to have your arm stamped while showing your ticket. They have a souvenir shop just beside the entrance. There were a lot of stuffed toys. Kids, you will really love it here! mom and Dad be sure to have a lots of cash with you. Haha. We were having fun looking around the store while waiting for the orientation to start because there is an orientation regarding the do's and don'ts while inside the park.
After the orientation, the very first animal that we saw was the white Bengal Tiger. It was her day-off too. They were giving her a bath inside per pen just behind the orientation area. This is the tiger that they use during weekends for selfies upon entering the park.
She was huge and beautiful too.
It was my first time seeing in real life a white tiger! So exciting!
So let us now begin the tour, the parade of animals! We started at the Aviary section. We saw many kinds of birds. I was having a hard time taking photos of them for they were high on top of their tree houses.
It's my first time seeing and knowing about the cassowary bird. it was really huge even when it was just sitting... He was alone inside his pen for he is the dominant male.
The most beautiful one's were the peacock.in the video you will see the peahens laying eggs.
Next, are the geese. They were fat... Haha and have beautiful feathers plus they were loud greeting us a beautiful geesemorning!😄😍
Then just opposite the geese's pen where the donkeys, the pigs, the cows and the deer. I was so happy seeing a deer for the first time in my life, they were tall, !! Suddenly I feel like Christmas, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer... Haha.
Next on the show were the cheetahs!! Whaaat! Never have ai seen a cheetah in real life before. They were so happy to look at because of their beautifully colored skins. Imagine these are the fastest land animals running up the speeds of 64 miles per hour. I wonder if these guys can still run that fast, they look so chilled out and just relaxing, probably it's their off season! Haha!
Then, next stop are the bear cats, who was just chilling out as well, just enjoying his tree trunk! Just Minding his own business! Haha
Then we saw the tortoises. They were in their sweet twenties... Haha
Here is a video of the male walking towards us, to say his good morning greetings!😍😍 You can hear from the backgrounds, the missionaries were bewildered on how did their shells grow on them? Haha.... I answered, google it, let's ask uncle google! Haha
Okay, so we were done with the first part of the tour. Go grab some drinks for we will be heading to the reptile and the amphibians world.🐍
They were all placed inside glass walled cages and you can easily view them through the glass.
We then headed to the far away parts of the tour. We needed to get our vehicle because you have to drive going there. We first made a stop on the ostriches. The gentle Giants!
Here is a video of us, just having fun with the ostriches, the boys specially hubby wanted to try their pecks and he did get a good pecking! Haha. It felt so joyful and amusing seeing their long necks and their big beaks just wanting to peck....
Saw some zebras too just across the ostrich pen.
We then went to the Lion's pens. Oh man! I was ecstatic hearing the roar of a lion for the first time, like in real life! Digong is a seven year old lion and stands at 9 feet tall. You can feed them by paying two dollars for three slices of a chicken thigh. I paid for six thighs so our kids (we consider them our kids because they are all the same age as our son Angelo, all 20 years old) can try and have a feel while feeding the lion and there were lionesses as well. We saw 4 big lioness and three male lions. It was really an awesome experience.
Here is the roar of Digong. Too bad I was not able to have a longer video because the lady kept asking about our tickets!! Haha!
Then we headed to the highlight of our adventure. The tiger close encounter. Well, I think it's the same as the lion for we did have a close encounter with them as well.
We need to ride on the Park's jeep an enclosure because we will be going inside the tigers territory who are just taking free inside their pen. There were two tigers, we get to meet Tom Cruise, the male tiger. They have twenty tigers but eighteen of them were in their cages also having their day offs because they said they were full packed just the weekend.
Tom is eight years old and he can eat 10 to 15 kilos of chicken a day. When having this tiger encounter you will pay two hundred fifty pesos or five dollars so you can feed the tiger.
It was so fun when he went on top of our jeep. While we were driving around his pen. We all shouted for it was just so easy for him to climb up the jeep. The other tiger was with the other jeep from another group. It would have been more fun if the two of them were with us on the jeep.
The last part was the crocodile feeding which they call the croco-loco because you will tease the crocodiles while giving them a piece of chicken which is one dollar a piece. There were more than fifty crocodiles in the crocodile enclosure.
You can see them beneath the walkways as well. See how big they are. That's me standing just above one crocodile.
This concludes our tour inside the park. I hope you had fun reading my post.
