The Challenge
We live in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the UAE, which is located along the Persian Gulf. Abu Dhabi's north, east and southern borders are surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Where we are located, we are 10 minutes drive different beaches. Anyone who has visited my blog for sure would have seen a lot of beach posts from me.
That is why I got excited when 
The Beauty of Boats... why not, right?
Abu Dhabi's history, culture, and development has been greatly influenced by its close proximity to the sea.
The Corniche stretches along the coastline, offering residents and visitors breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf. There currently are a lot of things happening in the City -- most of them along the Corniche. I thought a drive down the street would be great to give us an idea of the vibe.
The Marina Breakwater is at the tip of the Corniche. There are different yacht and sailing clubs in the area, hence the abundance of boats docked here. There are modern yachts - big and small, fishing boats, and even these wooden (dhow) boats. A great stop to showcase some boats for the challenge, eh?!
Marsa Al Bateen
This is a part of the city which we don't usually go to. So I dragged the kids there the other day to take a screen time-out while enjoying the cool weather.
Marsa in Arabic means anchor/mooring/port. So what do we see there?!
Yes, mateyyys! Boats!!!
Luxury knows no bounds in Marsa al Bateen (including expensive parking fee! LOL)
These floating "palaces" really shows how prosperity has embraced modern Abu Dhabi. From the fishermen, pearl divers, and sea merchants in the pre-modern times, Abu Dhabi has blended its extravagant present to its sea-tied past and has clearly become a playground for the well-to-do's.
I mean, just look at these boats! These are all private boats docked here.
Anyway, we were amused by the view and all those yachts around the marina. Thanks to the Asean Hive Challenge, if not, I would not have thought of exploring the Marsa Al Bateen for the first time.
