What do you think of when you hear the word “Christmas”?

Miss the snow, the Christmas tree, and the hot chocolate – isn't it?

Although Thailand has no snow, there was a Christmas party this year after a 2-year ban. The place where you can spend the most lively Christmas is on the most famous road in Phuket, Bangla Road in Patong Beach.

Last night, my family and I went to Patong Beach to celebrate Christmas. Patong, once bustling and full of tourists is almost a deserted city. But for 1 month now it starts to recover and to be lively again.

Major hotels and resorts are starting to open their doors to tourists in various locations and many of them have put up their Christmas decorations joyfully lighting up the city streets.

As before, finding a place near Bangla road to park the car is difficult due to the traffic and road work. It took two laps for my husband to find a place to park, and it wasn't quite close to Bangla Road.

We finally found ourselves in front of the event Soul of the Sea installed on the beach commemorating the victims of the Tsunami of 2004.

Phuket, the 26^th December 2004 at 07:58:53 an earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1 happened at 500km, 2 hours later a tsunami reached Patong, Karon, Kamala, Kata beach... causing the death of 259 persons and injuring 1,111 others. The tsunami killed 200,000 persons in all Indian Ocean.

Tsunami remembrance day the memorial service will be held from December 4-26, circulating along the beaches where the tsunami occurred.

At Patong Beach, a memorial event is held on 24-25.

เมอร์รี่คริสต์มาสค่ะเพื่อนๆ ถึงแม้ว่าประเทศไทยจะไม่เคยมีหิมะตก แต่วันคริสต์มาสหรือวันสำคัญใดๆ ในโลก ที่ประเทศไทยมีหมดจร้าาาาา.... อินทุกเทศกาลว่างั้น 555 เมื่อคืนบัวกับสาและลูก ก็เลยไปเซอร์เวย์ที่ป่าตอง เอาจริงๆ บัวไม่ได้อินกับเทศกาลอะไรเล้ยยยย.... แต่ถ้าไม่ออกนอกบ้านมันก็ไม่มีภาพอะนะ ก็เลยไปซะหน่อย ป่าตองจากที่เคยคึกคักตลอดเวลา เกือบจะกลายเป็นเมืองร้างเมื่อเจอโควิดระบาด ตอนนี้ก็เริ่มกลับมาคึกคักบ้างแล้ว หลังจากที่ลุงตู่ประกาศเปิดประเทศ แต่ก็คึกคักเฉพาะถนนบางลา และโรงแรมใหญ่ๆ ที่มีสายป่านยาว ส่วนโรงแรมเล็กๆ น่าจะเจ็บหนักอยู่นะ ช่วงนี้ตามโรงแรมก็จะประดับประดาไปด้วยไฟต่างๆ ซึ่งสวยงามมากๆ ในตอนกลางคืน

เมื่อมีนักท่องเที่ยว การหาที่จอดรถจึงเป็นเรื่องที่ยากมาก สาขับวน 2 รอบถึงได้ที่จอด แต่ก็ไกลจากบางลาพอสมควร แต่ก็โชคดีตรงที่จอดรถเขาจัดงานรำลึกเหตุการณ์สึนามิเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2547 พอดี งานนี้มีตั้งแต่วันที่ 4-26 ธันวาคม ภายในงานก็จะมีการจัดแสดงไฟต่างๆ ก็สวยดีค่ะ ซึ่งไฟพวกนี้เขาก็จะจัดวนไปตามหาดที่เคยเกิดสึนามิถล่ม วันท้ายๆ ก็จะจัดที่ป่าตอง และวันนี้ตอนเช้าๆ มีการทำบุญให้กับผู้เสียชีวิตในเหตุการณ์สึนามิด้วย แต่บัวไม่ได้ไปร่วมงาน

After watching the fire, we went to have dinner by the sea because my son wanted to eat seafood.

หลังจากที่ดูไฟเสร็จ ก็พาลูกชายไปทานข้าวริมเล เพราะนางอยากจะกินซีฟู้ดจร้าาาา....

After having dinner, we walked to Bangla Road. On the way, we saw some tourists surfing, so I stopped to watch them with interest.

Yes Phuket has a lot of beaches where you can surf real waves too or look at some competitions as the Quicksilver Thailand Surf Competition 🤣 Phuket is also the only place in the south that has virtual waves to surf for anyone who likes a challenge and wants to feel the sensation of balancing their body on the cool waves.

You must come and try this surf house. You can come without any basics, let's start at number one here, there is an instructor who has experience in surfing to teach. How to get on a sheet, how to stay stable, how to fall without getting hurt.

We have arrived at our destination. Bangla Road is crowded with foreign tourists.

The girls are dressed in red Santa costumes and invite tourists to sit and have a drink in the bar.

Bangla Road is bustling again on Christmas night. The merchants sell various products. Whether it's a Santa hat, a bouquet, a lot of souvenirs. including street food.
