My internet has been a topsy-turvy today due to a 12 hour power interuption which was announced days ago by our electricity supplier. But thankfully it has stabilized this afternoon.
Power interuption can really interupt your daily routines. Having no electricity means no water flowing from the faucet, no power to charge your cellphones and nothing to power your lights to light up dark places in the house and in this hot weather, it really is a bother without your electric fan running. It can really be hard especially when you come unprepared.
Since the power interuption was announced early, I managed to prepare the necessary things so it won't be hard to go on with everyday routines.
So how do I prepare when there is an expected or unexpected power interuption?
- I started by charging all cellphones few hours before the power interuption so that I will not be using my other power bank for at least a day.
- I make sure my power bank is fully charged. This has been a routine for me. I do not usually use powerbank in daily basis but I always make sure it is always fully charged ready for any unexpected power outage. It is because my child is asthmatic and anytime he might have asthma attack. I bought a mesh type portable nebulizer which I connect to the powerbank. This kind of nebulizer doesn't use too much energy.
- For the hot weather, I have my handfan come in handy. Electric fan cannot run so I use this to cool down.
- I also charge all my chargeable emergency lights just in case power interuption happens at night. In that case, I have these ready to light up the house. If power interuption happens during the day, I use these lamps in darker places of the house.
- And the most important of all is water. I store water in pails and in big storage drum so that it will not be hard to fetch water when needed. This is also something I do everyday and make sure my water drum is full.
It pays when we are ready in times like this. It may not make our life easisest but at least it makes our life a little comfortable.
