Hello asean hivers. I would like to share with my pencil drawing, my participation to Asean Hive's Pencil Drawing Challenge.
When I came to read the post I was very much enthusiastic to challenge my self to draw something since the contest is for the non-artist. I said to myself I can do this since there is no pressure. And the different art challenges has been motivating me to try something for the sake of challenging myself and see what I can do.
But ironically though I have so much time to draw because its a long weekend, here I am catching my breath, thinking and typing as fast as I can to be able to submit my entry before the time is up. Haha! I thought I have more time til' the evening. So I attended to other chores first. But when I checked on the post, I was shocked to see that time was running out. The last time I checcked, it's 29 minutes before the countdown ends and my heart is racing.
So here is my entry...
This drawing is inspired by what I saw on my front yard and what I want to do everyday...rest, relax, and enjoy a lazy day. Heheh. My neighbor's cat loves to hang out here at the front door hunting for birds. My surrounding is full of trees and bird rest on the branches, making them a target of this cat for hunting. This time I saw the cat resting on a log.
I took a photo of the cat to be used as inspiration. I cannot draw something pictured inside my brain. I need to look at a tangible photo to be able do it.
After deciding that I am going to draw this cat, I grabbed a pencil and paper. Gladly my husband went home this weekend bringing pencils for the children.
I started drawing the log and tail because it was the easiest part.
I then draw the body. It was the hardest part because of the curves. I went on a trial and error (draw and erase) on the body curves of the cat before I finally able to draw the whole body. I then a added a litle shade on the log and its body.
I draw short vertical lines on the body line to add fluffiness. I was hoping it would work and tadaa... I think I did the right thing.
And for the finishing touches ,I draw plants below and leaves of a tree above it. And this is my final drawing.
Time Check:
It's 1:20pm as of this writing and it would take more minutes to publish this blog. I know I am late for my entry.
Since, it's the case I will just post this to remind myself that I can do whatever I want if I put my mind and energy on something, like this drawing.
Thank you community for the opportunity. I really had fun trying something I know I am not good at but you give me the opportunity to try for myself.
Thank you all for dropping by.
