Hello everyone
Yesterday I went to one of the most famous building in mytown. Pidie Convention Centre (PCC), whose the man behind this name I have no idea, but It was easy to find my people call in many times we talk about this place. Even they also no idea about its meaning. I myself prefer Acehnese name to English term about this building. The picture I put on the top one is the main hall. There are several other building that was built on this area next to the main building.
Unfortunately the other building seem not in a good maintenance. That's why I did not capture them all. It same like showing you how useless the government project in my country. In my opinion, Instead of establish those kind of building that only access by people in the big event held such as wedding party, music performance etc, build a playing ground around it will be more in benefit. Huuff... If I talk more about it, the blind accusation of goverment corruption come out of my mind.
But I still appreciate the existence of the traditional house "Rumoh Aceh" in this area. Something that is rare to find in the modern era. My grandfather even demolished this Acehnese house just to build a new house from cement and bricks plus other modern building materials. Even though we have many memories that are still very memorable about our childhood in that house.
Rumoh Aceh (in Acehnese) is a traditional house typical of the Acehnese people. This house is a type of stilt house with 3 main sections and 1 additional section. The three main sections of the Acehnese house are the front porch, the middle porch and the back porch. While one additional section is the rumoh dapu rumah dapur. The roof of the house functions as a place to store family heirlooms.
Actually, I didn't expect to find Rumoh Aceh in the PCC area. As the matter of fact, yesterday was the first time I visited this area. Previously I just passing by with my motorcycle. Therefore, I am very happy to be able to share something that is etched in my memory about childhood memories. It is still fresh in my memory how happy we were to play games or accompany our mother weaving mats. Then we also chatted with our family under the Acehnese house, between the sturdy pillars that supported it. At night, from the porch we were reciting holy Al Qur'an and praying together.
