Hello Asean Hivers!
I want to share how my Sunday morning went.
It's a perfect weather on a Sunday morning. I plan to cook something delicious for the family. I have a carrot, some potatoes and cucumber in the fridge. An afritada inspired recipe adding canned pork and beans might be great for lunch. I say lunch coz we usually have brunch every day.
As i headed outside to buy some ingredients to a store nearby. I stopped and took a selfie with this captivating plant. I don't know its name. I just love the color of its flower and the shape is uniquely different. It's beautiful.
Our rough road when you go out from the house to the main road. It is still considered private but it has been already donated to the barangay. I perefer it as private road so no stranger will pass by the road since it would be open to the public and i suppose it would not be safe.
This subdivison has less sari sati store. This store is so lucky to be located in the middle so a lot of people buy here. Though it may look like a very simple store but they almost sell complete items for your daily needs; from frozen products, fruits and vegetables to dry goods except fresh fish. I almost buy here every day. I bought a can of pork and beans and a bunch of bananas. I paid Php100, Two items for 100 pesos! I find it a little expensive. Inflation it is. Well, this is a retail store, what should i expect?
Here i am in the kitchen trying hard to cook something i copied from my mom. It's afritada inspired without aftitada mix. I am excited to cook for the family. I prepared all the ingredients, sliced the carrots and potatoes. I also sliced orange sweet potatoes and a cucumber.
I placed the meat in a non stick pot because i want to boil it first before frying. But just when it almost boil my husband came and nagged and asked me what are you cooking? What are doing with the meat? Why are you boiling it? So he took the big pan and transferred the meat there and fry it. I am thankful he took over and cooked it so i will not get too tired. haha.. It is not my forte. ☹️
But i could practice and improved.
And there... he was the one who cooked it. Well i am not a good cook at all. lol. He mostly cooks our meal.
While he was cooking, I am frying the sweet potato on the other side of the stove.
The carrots, potatoes, and spices are added. Tadaaa done!
It's almost finished. I could smell the savory sauce of the afritada inspired meal.
Time to eat! The family members don't want me to take photos of them. So they just stood and wait for me to finish my selfieing. haha
It tastes delicious and flavorful still though it doesn't have bell peppers and some ingredients. It is a little sweet and i could tatse the pepper. I like it. It is one of my favorite foods.
Sunday is my only slow time. I like to really spend it happily with the family. I don't underestimate a shared meal with them. It is during this time i could talk to my grown up kids about anything in life. It is creating a lasting memories they will carry.
That is all and thank you for reading this far.
