February 12, 2025, is the night that is full of surprises and love for "Lola Ging", her grandchildren called her. She was unaware of what was waiting for her. She thought her birthday was just like an ordinary day or just like her previous birthdays.
The month of February has always been a challenging month for our family. We always have financial difficulties making it hard to celebrate even simple celebrations. Several members of the family have been celebrating birthdays in February including myself, Leonil, Leonil's mother, and Mama Lalia.
But despite the hardships, one thing remains constant. My husband's siblings always find ways to make Mama Lalia feel special. And since it was her 75th birthday, they went above and beyond to give her an unforgettable night.
Julius Ubaub AKA "Sir" and Marydel Ubaub Magsalay AKA "Bhadz" were the sponsor of this gathering.
It was not an extravagant celebration but it was a night to remember for each one of us.
Like any other day, "Lola Ging" attended mass, unaware of what was waiting for her. At past 6:00 PM, the mass ended and the "DRAMA BEGAN" Sir Julius, our best-supporting actor, brought "Lola Ging" going home but he said he had something to get somewhere else so he turned back and headed to the venue.
To make the story short, they arrived around 7:00 PM at Francis Pool where we waited for an hour just to surprise her.
"Lights off and keep silent" Everybody shouted "Lola Ging is here!
The family and a few visitors started singing a happy birthday song.
What a successful plan indeed. She was surprised and tears of joy were falling and she kept on smiling but was speechless. All day long she thought she had no birthday celebration because according to her, we had no money and it was true. Thank you to Julius Ubaub "sir" and Marydel Ubaub "Bhadz"
Our resources were limited, but all family members prepared small presents filled with deep love and appreciation. The most precious gift of all was the effort and sacrifices her children and grandchildren made to ensure she had a memorable birthday.
We continued the celebration until 11:00 PM.
The most memorable one is the swimming, singing, and dancing time.
Lola Ging was very happy because her siblings and a few visitors were there to attend her special day.
The moment we shared is what truly makes these moments special. Seeing "Lola Ging's" happiness made all the sacrifices worth it, proving that the best celebrations are not measured by luxury, but by love.
