I would like to share to you our story together with our working students. My working students are Charles and Mary Queen (princess). They have been with us for three years ago until now. They both graduated in grade 12 last July and now they are going to college. Good thing they both passed in Cebu Technological University (CTU) extension only here in Naga. Mary Queen taking up a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and Charles is taking up a Bachelor of Technical and Livelihood Education.

Who are they?
They are not my relatives anyway, they are the fruit of our Children's Ministry where we go to barangays and have a 2 weeks Bible class in the area and feed them every day. Charles lived in a mountain barangay of Naga which is barangay Lanas while Mary was in the place where we lived before in barangay Tangke. They have worked in our church for 3 years already, helping us do chores in the church and teaching other children in the feeding area.
A Lesson to Remember
They have a weekly allowance of 500 pesos each and I told them that when classes start that is where you get all your expenses.
So today they are going with me to the grocery to buy the things they need for laundry and it is my time also to buy our needs.

We went directly to the laundry powder, where they chose the cheapest. Mary kept on smiling as she chose and count how much will she spent already. After they were done We went to the frozen area so I could get some for breakfast and then went to the cashier where I forgot to take pictures. They told me it's never easy to budget such enough money only for themselves how much more if you have a big family. After that, we went to Mr. DIY to buy some notebooks for them. School supplies are so expensive nowadays.

To the Park
After what we did we went to the park to breathe some fresh air. We ate shawarma and Quek Quek just to satisfy our drooling at the food kiosk in front of us. During this time in the afternoon, there are already lots of food kiosks preparing or displaying their food products so people who visit early can have their early dinner or snacks.

What did they learn?
I told them to finish their studies first before having a relationship with the opposite sex. They should have a certain goal in life so they can help their parents when the right time comes. I also told them to take care of their finances properly even if it is big or small, It is how you manage the money. and also I didn't expect anything from them I just wanted to help and reach their dreams.
After our not-so-long deep talks in the park, we went home bringing our groceries. It was our first time having deep talks with each other.

Thoughts to Ponder
Having people in our lives is a great privilege. Helping others is not a joke, so when you help, according to the old Chinese proverb don't give men a fish but rather teach them to catch a fish. I am happy I have them both, they are a blessing to the church and to our family. Right now I have the responsibility of leading them to the right path, I pray someday they will look back and say "Thank you". I can say to myself I fulfill my purpose in life.
