Talking about Indonesian customs, of course, there is no end to discussing, today I am traveling to the island of Samosir in North Sumatra.
North Sumatra is indeed famous for its tourism, one of which is the one I am currently visiting in Samosir.
Sigale-gale's wooden doll's photo
The Sigale-gale doll is a mystical doll that is said to be able to move itself during certain rituals.
In the Samosir area, Sigale-gale dolls are usually used as a death ceremony, this is a ritual to call the spirits of the dead.
The ceremony is carried out with the accompaniment of Gondang Subangun and accompanied by his signature dance, this dance aims to deliver the spirits of the deceased family. Even in this area, if a family does not have a son, the Sigale-gale doll is considered a substitute for a son.
It is said that whoever makes the doll will die when the doll is finished. Because he said the doll maker had to unite his soul with the doll he made so that the Sigale-gale doll could move like a human.
We took pictures wearing traditional Samosir clothes and hats, and the background of the Batak traditional house on the island of Samosir.
Besides being able to see directly the culture and some beliefs that are still believed by the people, on the island of Samosir we can also enjoy the beauty of Lake Toba which is so beautiful.
Maybe if you are curious about the tourist attractions on the island of Samosir, please visit directly to the place, I make sure you will not be disappointed with the natural beauty and hospitality of the people.
