Sometimes the best moments at home happen when nothing is really planned. One quiet afternoon here on the farm, we were just sitting around with nothing much to do. instead of feeling bored, I thought it would be nice to prepare a simple afternoon snack for everyone.
My daughter was with me my husband cousin was also visiting. While we were talking, I suddenly remembered the mango tree at my mother-in-law's house. the mangoes there are still green,, perfect for a sour merienda. So I told them, "Let's get some green mango."
The three of us walked there together and picked a few green mangoes from the tree. My daughter was excited because she loves sour fruits. Moments like this are simple but fun, especially when you are with family.
When we came back home, my cousin volunteered to peel the mangoes, she carefully removed the skin and sliced them into pieces. While she was busy preparing the mangoes, I went to the kitchen to prepare the ginamos. I cooked it a little so the taste would become more flavorful and delicious.
Since we already had mangoes, I thought of adding something sweet balance the sour taste. I got some banana, Saba variety from our farm and boiled them. Fresh Saba from the farm always tastes better, especially when it is simply cooked.
After everything was ready, we placed the sliced green mangoes with ginamos and the boiled banana on the table. Of course, I also prepared a cup of hot coffee for myself.
Before we knew it, many of us were already enjoying the snack together. The sour mango with ginamos, the sweet banana and the warm coffee made the afternoon feel compete. It was a very simple snacks but moments like this make farm life feel warm and happy.
