A few days ago, I shared with you about my siblings' huge achievement. My younger sister finished 4th grade, and my younger brother just graduated from 12th grade. Both of them got “With Honors,” and I witnessed how they walked on stage on the same day. I was surprised that my parents decided to celebrate this milestone, so let’s dive right in.
Preparation
At eight in the morning, my mother sent an invitation in our group chat about the celebration. Anyway, I'd just like to correct that it should be the recognition of my younger sister (Sophia) and graduation of my younger brother (Michael). After announcing it, she immediately started preparing everything we needed.
In the morning, my mother cooked foods like puto, kutsinta, and pancit bihon. Meanwhile, my younger brother and father were busy assembling the table and chairs that we only use when there are visitors. I was also busy washing dishes back and forth and arranging the Coca-Cola bottles in the fridge. I’m not used to this kind of busy setup since it felt more grand compared to our usual celebrations.
In the afternoon, we became even busier. My mother started cooking lumpia and menudo. She then prepared the pancit bihon with oyster sauce. On the other hand, my father was busy frying tilapia. I was also wiping the paper plates for the guests and washing dishes multiple times. They kept using the same tools and utensils, so I had to clean them repeatedly. I also cleaned the old stock of spoons, forks, and plates that we only use when there are visitors.
Before 4 in the afternoon, we finally finished preparing all the food. We placed them on a big tray and started taking photos. My younger brother went out to pick up his friends, including the girl he is courting.
Celebration
After my aunt arrived, she took a family photo of us. My younger brother wasn’t there yet since he was still on the way. Sorry if I couldn't find that specific photo.
Other visitors started to arrive, and my mother told everyone that they could already eat. I couldn’t eat properly since I was busy assisting them, especially with handing out plates.
I’m an introvert, so I’m not used to talking to a lot of people. I easily get drained and just want to isolate myself.
After eating, I stayed busy helping my mom by giving out mugs for their coffee time. My father also asked me to wash the dishes and feed our dog.
Overall, it was a wonderful time celebrating this milestone with my family. I’m sure we’ll get even busier when my graduation comes, LOL.
