Last week, I did the second or last time of the covid vaccination and I finally became a person who was vaccinated. In Indonesia, full vaccination is a mandatory requirement to enter various places, such as malls, cinemas, tourism places or to go out of town. To be honest, this condition is a bit discriminatory but never mind this is happening all over the world, not only in my country. Because I was fully vaccinated, I went to my favorite place, namely the cinema.
One thing I have missed the most during these two years of the COVID-19 pandemic is going to the cinema. Indeed, there are now many platforms for watching movies using smartphones or smart tvs at home, such as using Netflix or Disney Hotstar, but the sensation is different. Watching movies in theaters can provide an extraordinary viewing experience and atmosphere. In addition to the wide screen, the sound system in the cinema provides a different and more enjoyable viewing sensation, it also makes us more focused.
Cinema With Covid-19 Protocols
I went to one of the cinemas in my city, called Cinema 21. I ordered tickets through the M-Tix application (one of the applications for ordering various kinds of tickets in Indonesia), because I still have a balance in the account and haven't used it for two years . In the past, before the Covid-19 pandemic, I always prepared a budget to watch every week.
To enter the cinema in Indonesia, we have to go through various stages, the first is that we have to do a barcode scan through the PeduliLindung application to prove that I have been fully vaccinated. We are not allowed to enter if we don't wash our hands first with soap. We can be evicted by security if we don't do it.
After that, I took the ticket and went to look for food and drink. Many menu choices are provided in this cinema with various prices. Of course popcorn and soda are also available here. Popcorn has long been a favorite menu as a friend to watch movies in cinemas around the world, equipped with soft drinks will make the atmosphere more fun.
The form of cinema in Indonesia, there have been many positive and better changes. In the past, good cinemas only existed in Jakarta or big cities on the island of Java. I still remember the shape of the cinema and the atmosphere when I was a teenager, it looked more like a prostitution place than a movie theater. But, nowadays, cinema has become a clean and child-friendly place. The bad impression of the cinema is gone, even though the tickets are more expensive but we get much better facilities.
About Movie
There were several films showing at that time, two Hollywood films, one Thai film, and two Indonesian films. Actually, I wanted to watch a Thai film called The Medium, because many film fans and film reviews declared it one of the best horror films this year. However, my wife didn't want to watch a horror movie that day, after discussing it we decided to watch Eternals, another superhero movie from Marvel.
Eternals is the umpteenth superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. You know, this is the 25th Marvel Cinematic Universe film, since Iron Man was first released in 2008. I don't want to comment much on this film, for fear of causing spoilers but I can't enjoy this film, because in my head when watching this film there was a debate in my head, in every scene is this a set? Or just green screen? I seem to be confusing myself.
And this, the first time I'm back in the cinema after the Covid-19 pandemic, I always miss this moment and it's great to be able to do it. Although, I didn't enjoy the movie, but that's okay next time I will watch another movie.
