Hi, ASEAN Hive Community! I got excited about this week's community challenge as it reminded me of my trip in September 2015 to two different countries in less than two weeks: Malaysia and Singapore.
I scored a cheap flight from Cebu to Kuala Lumpur. I thought of taking a bus from KL to Penang, but flying was cheaper. I also thought of taking another bus from Penang to Singapore but flying was also cheaper. Hahaha! So, I grabbed all the cheap flights and I never had to worry about taking the long bus rides.
Love Lane Street in George Town, Penang
This iron sculpture in Penang talks about how shophouses became cheap hostels popular for backpacker tourists.
Another iron sculpture says that the rich businessmen living on Muntri Street kept their mistresses in this area.
The Indian Boatman
This wall art can be found at Stewart Lane. This is the second painting made by a Russian artist, Yulia Volchkova.
I made a selfie on this one because I think it's a beautiful painting.
It was raining that afternoon so I wasn't able to continue walking around. There was a lot of street art here in George Town that was getting popular.
Haji Lane in Singapore
My Singaporean friend showed me around some quiet popular places. We went to Haji Lane and took photos of me of this famous wall art.
It is said that the artwork depicts the Aztecs. The Aztecs are the indigenous people of Mexico before the Spanish occupation. The colorful mural was made by Didier Jaba Mathieu, from Colombia.
This wall of art is quite Instagrammable.
My friend was a good photographer. Haha!
The Arab Street
We walked around Arab Street checking some shops and restaurants until I got tired. I just wanted to take a rest. We went to a peaceful area behind a mosque and I decided to sit here near these artworks. My friend eventually took a snapshot.
March 1st is HPUD time
Just dropping this here for my Hive Power-Up for March.
Thank you so much ASEAN Hive for this week's challenge as I got the chance to reminisce about my solo backpacking trips in 2015. :D
