Hi, ASEAN Hive Community! Before 2023 ends, let me share with you a story of mine on how I enjoyed my nightlife in Bangkok with the girls.
I shared this photo with a travel community on FB just for fun. It was a crazy night to remember in Bangkok, Thailand. If you want to party in Bangkok, this is the place to be. Have you watched the movie, The Hangover, starring Bradley Cooper? I can relate to the movie. Hahaha!
Backpacking for 4 months... back in Oct 2018, I was 29 and was very much single. My last stretch to party before I turned 30 back in Nov 2018. What happens in Khao San stays in Khao San. Let's have a wild party in Bangkok before going to Phuket.
This was the time when I felt I was afraid to be 30 because I was single.
Your number is out of the calendar and others would say, “You're 30, get a husband, have a baby.”
So I said, “Just wait, I'll find my soon-to-be-husband in my travel...”
Not my first time in Bangkok
My first time in Bangkok was in 2015 and I flew to Bangkok from Myanmar in October 2018. I just had a break-up with an ex-bf, that's for another story. Instead of flying back to the Philippines, I decided to extend my trip to Bangkok.
I loved to announce my whereabouts on FB. A Filipina traveler responded that she was also in Bangkok. She is a follower of my travel blog. So I went to the hostel where she stays and met her in person.
I felt so relieved when she was a fellow Bisaya speaker. She is from Mindanao. When we spoke in our language, I found a friend in her and felt like we'd been friends for 5 years already.
According to Wikipedia:
Khaosan is a district of Bangkok ( Thailand ), well known for its many guest houses, and small budget hotels, which offer cheap excursions throughout the country. The district is located not far from the Grand Palace in the center of the city. It is the meeting place for backpacker tourists, especially on the very famous Khaosan Road, about 500 m long, and a meeting place for backpackers in Bangkok.
The district is gradually evolving towards customers other than backpackers: more family-friendly hotels are developing in the north of the district, while guest houses and new establishments are evolving towards higher standards.

Peach, Marichen, and Roxanne
Her name is Marichen. She introduced me to a Thai girl named Peach and we became friends instantly. Marichen had been staying in Bangkok for a few weeks already. Since I was new, I asked her to go into the nightlife. I was heartbroken. We were heartbroken. We opened each other's hearts about our struggles and failures in life. You know, we should celebrate!
Wild Night in Bangkok
From our hostel, we took a taxi to Khao San Road. I decided to wear a skimpy outfit. Hahaha! I felt so sexy and free that night. Well, I was with two girlfriends so I felt safe.
I felt so excited that I felt like a famous person. I said hi to everybody because the locals were greeting me. And some of them were curious about where were we from. Ah, they realized, we were just being tourists in Bangkok.
First, we need to eat for our dinner as you can see in the photo above with Peach and Marichen.
Here's a photo of me upon arrival at the party place. After that, we went to a bar and bought some drinks for ourselves.
Along the streets, it was a party road. At midnight, every bar started to blast off their sounds and people were buying drinks. People were also dancing on the street.
Of course, I was flirty that night. I saw a lot of cute guys in the crowd. I was eyeing this guy who was wearing eyeglasses. I told my friends that I liked this guy but I never wanted to do my first move. I was just staring at him from afar. But no luck! Hahaha!
Then, a group of guys came over. I knew that these guys were younger than me. And one guy approached me, as you can see from the first photo above. He bought me a margarita drink. We started dancing and flirting. Hahahaha!
The flirting didn't last long. The girls and I went to a club and paid 150 baht for the entrance fee with free drinks. We danced the whole night. I got drunk.
We went back to our hostel safe and sound.
I went to Bangkok the second time around with no expectations. Flying in Bangkok was the best decision ever. My original plan was to stay in Bangkok for a month to live as a digital nomad.
Now, you know, that's how to party when it's your last few weeks before turning 30 and before having a baby!
It felt like a bridal shower but still in search of a husband-to-be! LOL
