The Wild Boar Hunt (This Sundayz D&D Game)
Hello Friends,
There are a few things that can be said about giant boars with certainty. Firstly, they are a sign of bad things. This is because they are usually only seen in areas that have been ravaged by some sort of disaster, such as a war or a natural disaster. Secondly, they are incredibly dangerous. They are known to attacking people and animals without provocation, and their large size and sharp teeth can cause serious injury or death. Finally, they are a very real threat to anyone who encounters them. If you see a giant boar, it is best to stay away and call for help.
That was the setting for this week's D&D one-shot game.
Steph : A Drawf as well, (I did not write it down ;( )
Tim : "Dưa Hấu" (Watermellon) A Hill Drawf Wizard
Yair : Barbarian of sorts... he had a great AX (I did not write it down ;( )
Trev : "Bolg" A Gold Dragonborn Nature Cleric
Our band of adventures was called on by a drunken king to kill a Giant Boar that was hunting and terrorizing in the woods to the north of the city. Heading the call, and perhaps after not quite equipping all we needed, we set off.
Before leaving, we did see other hunters getting ready to go hunt. One group was a band of elves with archery equipment.
Just outside the gate, we meet some other hunters coming back. Casting an illusion spell on us to make us look like the town guards, they told us of strange things they found in the woods to the west.
Into the Woods
Our mission was to the north, so we set off on the road to the north; when we entered into the woods, it was so quiet, almost... too quiet... we had a trusted dog named "Woofiiee." Who, with a lot of sadness, was attacked by the giant boar and consumed on the spot.
Triggering the attack, our barbarian went into beast mode and whacked it with their great AX cleaving off a chuck of the beast's face. Before we could do any more damage, we heard a whistle blowing, and the boar ran off into the woods, leaving us.
Providing chase, we tracked it to a clearing. In this clearing, there was a big hole that not one but 5 GIANT Boars were standing around looking into. On the ground, a strange staff.
The First Encounter
We were debating on what to do when the Elves from the town charged in, firing arrows at the Boars; the board provided attack and battled the elves. In the Chaos, we decided to inspect the hole and see what was happening.
Dưa Hấu cast a minor illusion spell to make the grass taller, and he crawled and proceeded to sneak out. Bolg also did but was less than stealthy. The hole had 2 GIANT babies in it. OMG, at the bottom of the pit was a whistle. The staff thing on top was a giant rattle of sorts, perhaps for the babies.
We did not want to go in ourselves, so we signed to our friends to come to join; the Wizard did, but did so by running across the field, attracting the attention of one of the Boars.
When the Boar got close to the whole and the wizard, it proceeded to "Bump" the wizard into the pit with the Giant Babies!
While in the bottom, the babies were happy for the most part, taking no risk; as the pit was filled with bones, the wizard cast a glow on the rattle and elevated it with their mage hands. This took the attention of the babies off the traped wizard.
Bolg spent several rounds trying to help get Steph out of the pit...
Meanwhile on top of the pit, we were battling the boar with little success. A failed fire spell and attack left the boar mad; it was then that the Barabiran took the option to attack from the back and did a check of damage again with the great AX.
On the boar's turn, it gouged that barbarian for 6 HP of damage, to which he shrugged off like it was nothing. We then proceeded to do a decent freeze spell and roll a 20 for on a fire attack, torching that boar to ash...
The elves were destroyed by the Board, and we took care of one of the boars, and one more which stumbled over to us wounded. So with combat over, we debated what to do with the babies.
Options...
- Kill them
- Save them from the pit
- Do nothing with them and go back to town with the Boars.
We opted to do nothing with them. On the dead elves, we found a healing potion that we used to bring one of the dead elves' horses back to life. Woot!
Strapping the Board to the back of that horse, we set off for town again, leaving the GIANT babies behind us.
ON the Road Back Encounter
On the way back, we encountered an Orc Mage.
He demanded 10 GP (Gold Pieces) to pass.
The team debated in front of him if we would pay or kill him.
We tried to cast "Freinds" on him, but it failed. :(
Then we tried to cast another charm spell that failed too, so then the Orc Mage increased the price to 15 GP.
At this point, Bolg had it and let the mage have a Fire blast from its mouth at point black. Torching the mage's face... ANNNNDDDDD.... we were into combat.
The mage cast sleep on the party, and Bolg was the only one to pass out. So down to 3 of us, we engaged.
We froze part of him to the ground, burnt of part of him, then the Babrbarin lobed off his arm. Ouch...
Next round, the Mage, Grew 20 feet tall and threatened to crush us with his severed arm. We did not know that was only an illusion, so we battled on.
In this next round, we discover the ruse and laid a few more big hits.
At this point, the Orc Mage said, "Ok fine 2 gold, but that's my final offer. Or I'll beat you with this arm you just cut off my body.", while in his still working hand, he was powering up a spell of some sort...
The Barbarian decided to finish the mage off and whacked him good with his Great Ax, and that triggered the spell the Orc Mage was holding. It was a Fireball that exploded in a 30-foot circle.
The dame was about 36 points of fire damage.
Most of the team survived that attack, but Dưa Hấu, my played did not. He had 26 HP and then was at Nothing. hahaha.
A few quick reactions from the surviving team established me and stopped me from dying with a healing potion. (God, I love those things).
With that deadly but hourmorus encounter over..., it was on to town and to the king.
Back to Town
We returned to town as heroes; the king (Albeit drunk) came to greet us and welcomed us back. He gave us a lord title and a small house outside the city walls, and we were drafted into the city arm for an upcoming war. :(
We mentioned about the other boars in the woods we killed and the Big Giant Babies to the guards and other hunters; they proceeded to head into the woods to see.
We were shown to our new home and met our Surf, "Sweepsley". An old man on the front porch of our house who battles the spiderwebs and keeps the house clean. We had some fun banter with him and took a short rest.
The rest was sort as we heard a noise coming from the town, just a short distance away.
It seems that 2 Giants were laying siege to the city walls!!
Despite our better intentions not to, we decided to help the city. One of the king guards showed us a back door into the city, and we discovered that the 2 Giant Babies were captured and now imprisoned in the castle's basement.
The Giant Babies were being jabbed by a guard; they were crying.
We opted to bring the babies back to the giants attacking the city's walls. So the first task getting out of the cage.
We tried to make them happy with a friend spell and then talked the guard into open the cage gate. When he did, well, his head was crushed by the Giant babby... :(
Anyways, leading the babies out, we meet some of Seige's weapons that were being used to attack the Giants. We had to stop the weapons from shooting so we can talk with the Giants.
Casting Arcane Lock on the Seige weapons stopped them from shooting, then we progressed on. Along the way, a small child came out to meet us, we tried to usher her away but caused her some pain, and that... caused the ire of the child's parents... but through some slick-talking, we skirted a conflict with them! WooT!
At the gates to the city, the city guards wanted to kill the baby, but again, we talked our way out of a conflict with them and got them to open the doors of the city.
It was here that the King came and demanded that we use the baby to trick the Giants into attacking another city that they were at war with. In doing so, we would have more significant titles, more lands, and more and more... a very tempting offer indeed.
It was unfortunate, but none of the team spoke Giant, and we did not want to engage in combat with the Giants... so... with some ire from the King, the gains walked off, united with their Giant babies.
Seeing that we "did" save the city, the kings granted us some new titles, " The eggplant lords," and land rights, which was the end of the adventure for the day.
End
WOW, what a fun game.
Anyways, thanks for reading the story of the day! lol
