Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard - Tim Notke
Good day, gorgeous people of Hive! How are you feeling today? I Hope is everything fine with your daily routine and your work.
The job we choose is something to do with our passion and skills. If we love what we're doing, then everything falls perfectly every day.
In my previous blog, I didn't share my husband's work I forgot to highlight what to look forward but then again here I am sharing with you his source of income. By the way, it's my first time posting in this community😉. I just want to say, Hi!
My husband is the type of person who didn't matter what kind of work he could have as long as he has income to sustain our family. Before we settled, he had worked as a motorcycle driver, promo merchandiser, automotive server, and now as Vegetable Vendor.
I couldn't be prouder of him because of his perseverance and consistency in his own business. He started from 3,800 capital. Selling different kinds of vegetables available in his hometown (Sudlon 2, mountain barangay of Cebu City). Those vegetables were to be delivered to different municipalities heading North. His brother named Jayr is his company in everyday hustle.
Sudlon 2 is part of Cebu City located in the South. It is abundant in different varieties of vegetables because it has a cold climate even in the afternoon. They called it "little Baguio". Last Monday, my husband told me that the cast of "Iron Heart" (Philippine teleserye) had a shooting led by famous actor Richard Gutierrez.
I stayed there for almost a year before my teaching career, you cannot believe it, I always wear a jacket because of the cold air. During the rainy season, the atmosphere always has fogs.
Humble Start
I remember this time, creating a group chat for customers and posting on Facebook our available vegetables. I have to support my husband in his little business for he was just starting. With his eagerness to dispose of all the vegetables, he had to enter the market first, in Tabogon. He had tried to display his merchandise along the road. I felt pity as well as proud when someone told me about this scenario.
Every Thursday and Monday night they have to prepare the vehicle to be loaded with sacks and big baskets of vegetables. We called our vehicle as
"yellow" because this was our first car brought through a loan. It needs maintenance too especially since they're always loaded. There were times when they cannot surmount the steep road so they have to unload.
Since the stocks had been bigger than before (God's grace) another vehicle has been added, this time is huge than yellow. We named it Blue. I told my husband to sell yellow because it's another liability, but he declined. He said, "We will not sell yellow, it has sentimental value to us, this is where we started instead we have to groom it". I think he has point😁.
They have to leave as early as 12 am to be delivered first in Consolacion Market, then in Compostela, Liloan, Danao, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, and lastly in Ilihan Market.
Rain or shine, typhoon or very hot day, they were always ready to deliver goods to stores. Supplying vegetables to markets is important because it is the daily need of people, especially those who run restaurants, hotels, and even small stores of an eatery.
Leisure Time
All of our endeavors will be paid off through giving time to our family.
During weekends, he brought us to resorts, dine us at fine dining or else at larshan (along the sea grilled chicken, pork, etc.), with this, we were so happy being together as a family.
As a wife, I am so proud and lucky because he is responsible for every task he's doing. He has no certificate nor a graduate of a 4-year course but still keeps fighting for life as it is not our basis in this world, as long as we have honest work and our intention is pure then He will bless us abundantly.
