Hi Hive Lovers
This is one of the bridges in my city decorated with colorful lights. It looks very beautiful and attracts people's attention at night.
Its name is the Pango Bridge, and it is right at the city boundary gate on the main causeway to the northwest of Banda Aceh. This bridge is 130 meters long and stretches over the Aceh River.
At night, this bridge crossing always looks deserted. I took some of these photos at 10:00 at night, West Indonesia time. It's easy to stop in the middle of the road while taking quick pictures; almost no road users have crossed this bridge, even though it's not yet midnight.
I used my #SamsungA52 smartphone camera in night mode to capture these lights. LED strip lights are wrapped around and fill all the lighting poles along the bridge.
Here are some photos of the decorative lights on the bridge:
Necessity and expediency
The need for installing lights on bridges is actually for lighting for road users. Since the construction of this bridge, the lights have also been installed. Lighting on a bridge is a necessity. Then, are the decorative lights useful?
The installation of decorative lights in various places is only for beauty and aesthetic purposes. The hope is to attract the attention of residents and tourists visiting this city.
Wasteful?
All city parks and almost all bridges in my city have been decorated with similar decorative lights in various shapes, and they are lit all night long. Every night, from sunset to sunrise
The decorative lights on the Pango Bridge are on all night, and this area is only busy until about a third of the way into the early evening.By midnight, no residents were passing by, and no one was enjoying the beauty of these colorful decorative lights.
Installing decorative lights that stay on all night is understandable in areas where traffic is always heavy. But, in my opinion, the Pango Bridge is a waste of money.
If, from midnight until early in the morning, the decorative lights in the quiet area are turned off, it will save energy and money. In my opinion, if there are not many passers-by, then the decorative lights will only be lit until midnight.
The beauty of the city with decorative lights is needed, but if it becomes a waste of energy and costs so much that it becomes a burden on the city government, it should be reconsidered.
