Happy Tuesday Hivers!
As they say, like wine, age gets finer with time.
Since I started blogging on the Hive blockchain, I have written a birthday blog every time I celebrated my birthday. This is because when the time comes that my memory becomes dull, I have this public diary that always reminds me of how I celebrated my past birthdays and the personal growth I encountered each year.
How am I after a year older? Have I become wiser?
As you age, the circle of friends becomes smaller. You choose silence over arguments, prefer a laid-back place away from dramas, understand the importance of peace of mind, and most importantly, value every cent.
I am now far different from who I was a few years back. The circle of friends becomes smaller while wisdom becomes wider. Why did my circle of friends become smaller? Because I already know my value. I stay away from people who steal my peace of mind because I truly value it.
When I was young, I thought letting go was so difficult, but as I age, it is the opposite. Because when you know your value, letting go is less painful.
My patience is not immeasurable, but as I age, it stretches out a little bit. There were times when I wanted to burst out in anger, but I chose to calm myself down and do deep inhales and exhales instead of seeking immediate satisfaction, because I don't want to regret it one day.
Today, I am celebrating my 40th birthday. There's no grand celebration because aside from not having enough money, I don't really need it. What I need at this time is to save money and gradually grow my investments. This way, when the time comes that I'm not able to work, I will already have enough to sustain my needs.
I had just woken up at 4 am this morning because my family surprised me with a "mananita" and a bouquet of flowers. Later, we only had a simple dinner at home. Celebrating your birthday with someone close to your heart is enough for me; I don't need a luxurious celebration.
