Apartment Hunting 101: Surviving the Search as an Incoming College Student
Good day, my dearest hive friends! This blog is all about my apartment hunting experience.
It’s been a month since I graduated, and I still haven’t posted my graduation blog yet hihihi, I’ve been so lazy. I still can’t believe that I’m officially a high schoOol graduate. Back then, I was super excited to graduate, but now that it’s finally happened, it’s actually kind of scary, and I can already feel the pressure.
Right after my graduation, my parents told me to look for an apartment as soon as possible. I started searching online for places near CTU, where I’ll be studying for the next four years as a BS Mechanical Engineering student. However, almost everyone on the Facebook pages turned out to be scammers, huhu. It’s just sad that some people resort to scamming others just to survive when there are many other legal jobs out there, huhu.
Then my friend Lorene told me that her father knows an apartment where I can stay, and it’s actually cheap, ₱2,000 per month with its own CR. I really liked it. Ever since puberty hit, I haven’t liked sharing a room, even with my brother or my parents. So now that I’m already looking for an apartment, I immediately grabbed that opportunity because a solo room with its own CR ffor ₱2,000 per month is a steal. It’s pretty cheap, especially consideringg that it’s located in the city.
But we still looked for other apartments near CTU. Most of them were bedspacers for ₱1,500, with four of us sharing one room. Just like I said earlier, I don’t want to share a room with anyone, so I immediately said no to those apartments. In the end, we just stuck with the recommendation from Lorene’s fatherr.
It was actually our first time going there, and the place was quite unfamiliar to us. Thankfully, Lorene’s father offered that we could just call him for directions.
And guys, my embarrassing moment was when Lorene’s father told us to ride the 08G jeep going to Gaisano Jai Alai. I confidently thought it was pronounced “Jai” as in how it’s written, so I was super confident when i told the driver, “Jai Alai, mi naog kuya” Then one passenger corrected me and said that the correct pronunciation is Hai Alai. HUHUHU
Then when we got off the jeep, I called Lorene’s father, and he told us to ride an e-bike going to the Egos Building. That’s when we started feeling like wee might be getting scammed because even though the Egos Building was actually just near Gaisano, we were charged ₱30 each for the e-bike ride. It was even more expensive than the jeep fare, which was only ₱10–₱13. Huhu.
But it’s okay because we still arrived safely at the Egos Building in the ennd.
I actually wasn’t able to take pictures of the apartment that was shown to us, guys, because I only recorded a video. But this is what the layout looks like:
Then I immediately said yes to the apartment, guys. I feel likee it was really meant for me, hihi. MEANT TO BE?!
Soon, I will be posting my apartment and how i will decorate it, but for now, that will be all. Thanks for reading!
