Hello everyone. My wife and I's Chiang Rai trip early month, this post is the third temple of this trip. I will take everyone to see another ancient and interesting temple in this province. This temple is called Wat Phra Sing. Wat Phra Singh is located on Singhaklai Road, Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District. Which is the city area of this province. Open every day 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. My wife and I had no plans to visit this temple. We see this temple by accident. And liked this temple when we see temple for the first time. so we stopped by this temple. Even though we have never known this temple and just got to know this temple for the first time on this trip.
Interesting history of the temple. There is no clear information for the construction of Wat Phra Sing. But it is assumed that this temple was built during the Lanna Kingdom (an ancient kingdom in the north of Thailand). Around the year AD 1928 or 638 years ago. And the temple was first renovated in AD 1890 or 134 years ago. Later in AD 1993 or 31 years ago, Wat Phra Sing was established as a royal monastery.
The atmosphere on the road of Chiang Rai before reaching the temple.

The atmosphere, architecture and sculptures in the temple.
The Wat Phra Sing sign is a simple sign.

There are two entrances to the temple. The first entrance is an iron door and is wide entrance but has no arch. At the entrance there is a statue of a white lion decorated with gold color patterns on the pillars of the wall (Lion statues made in Lanna style)l. And has a stucco pattern of angels.

Another entrance is a wooden door with beautiful carved patterns. And has an arch made of bricks plastered with cement. The top of the arch resembles the roof of an ancient castle with beautiful stucco patterns. There are also two lion statues like the first entrance. But this entrance is not open.

When we entered the temple, we see two sacred architectures. The first sacred architecture was the buddha image hall (viharn). This buddha image hall (viharn) is called Phra Viharn Kaew. In the past, the location of the Phra Viharn Kaew used to be the location of the old hall (Built in AD 1891 or 133 years ago). But in AD 2008 or 16 years ago, the temple demolished the old hall and built a new buddha image hall (viharn). Which is the Phra Viharn Kaew until now. This buddha image hall (viharn) was built in the ancient Lanna style (original Lanna). Looks the clear unique of ancient northern art.

The interior of the buddha image hall (viharn) is also decorated in Lanna style and there are beautiful buddhist oil paintings on the walls. The main buddha image in the buddha image hall (viharn) is a small buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara. This buddha image is called Phra Sing Noi. Phra Sing Noi is another ancient and important buddha image of Chiang Rai.

The second sacred architecture is the ordination hall (ubosot). This ordination hall (ubosot) has been renovated and rebuilt to replace the ancient ordination hall (ubosot) hundreds of years old which is dilapidated. Built on the original foundation of the ancient ordination hall (ubosot) in AD 1890 or 134 years ago. And the ordination hall (ubosot) has been renovated two more times until it is a beautiful ordination hall (ubosot) now. This ordination hall (ubosot) is built in the ancient Lanna style (original Lanna). And looks the clear unique of ancient northern art too.

The interior of the ordination hall (ubosot) is also decorated with Lanna style patterns, especially on the ceiling with unique patterns. The main buddha image in the buddha image hall (viharn) is a big buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara. This main buddha image is called Phra Sing Luang. Phra Sing Luang is an ancient buddha image built in Lanna style that is hundreds of years old. In addition, there are many other buddha images.

The temple's pagoda was built in 1949 or 75 years ago. This pagoda is built in Lanna style as well. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the pagoda.
On the outdoor courtyard of the temple there are also two pavilions. Inside the first pavilion is the buddha images. And the second pavilion has angel statues.

Within the temple's outdoor courtyard there are other statues. But the most striking ones are two serpent statues and a large tree.

This temple also has another importance : There is a school for monks too.

Another area in the temple is a section containing the monks' living quarters. Which I didn't take pictures. These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye š¤
