Hello Everyone! I hope everyone have a pleasant day.
I always support and watch lion dances and dragon dances because when I was in high school, my friends and I joined the lion and dragon dance group. I know how heavy the lions head is and how hot it gets inside those costumes. We had to exercise in the morning and practice after school, and I understand how challenging it is. Typically, these dances are performed during Chinese New Year.
In our city, the Chinese community only has lion dance, and they go door to door to all establishments. It is believed that lion dance or dragon dance drives away evil spirits or bad luck and brings good luck and blessings.
I was actually disappointed by their performance this time. It seems they did not put much effort into it. There were no prepared tricks, no jumping, and no choreography. It was a bit boring since they only kept bowing.
here are some photos of the lion dance performance.
This was quite funny, we wondered why this lion keep coming inside, sticking its head out like wanted to be fed, then I notice we forgot to hang the red envelop (Ang Pao). the red envelop(Ang Pao) usually hangs in the entrance of the establishment and the lion dancer would get it through its mouth.
anyway, we are still thankful from their performance, because of them we got a break from work and got a little bit of entertainment.
Happy New Year! Kiong Hee Huat Tsai!
