I was a kid when this happened but did remember helicopters flying by and hearing in the radio the call of then-Cardinal Jaime Sin for people to go to Edsa.
I saw later on the tv and photo images of people stopping tanks and people offering food, flowers and prayers to the soldiers in a peaceful protest that eventually led to the ouster of the dictator.
People Power movement was an iconic moment for the Philippines as it proved how true unity and desire for true change led to a peaceful transition from a dictatorship back to the democracy we now enjoy.
This moment led to many other countries to adopt peaceful protest against draconian and dictator governments that abused their power.
We are in the midst of a struggle as those that were ouster are trying to claw their way back into power and this election would be telling if they were successful in the history revision and apologists that they unleashed to clean their tarnished reputation.

It was never an Aquino vs Marcos struggle. It was the Filipino people vs a dictator. The attempts to split and brand people as Dilawan if they were against Marcos and this administration is a ploy to trivialize the struggle. Can't we just want what is good for the country?
May we remember the reason that prompted Edsa and why #neveragain for those that are attempting to revise history.
I've often wondered though what if those tanks ran over the civilians and the soldiers opened fired on the protestors like what happened to the Tiananmen massacre in China.
What would our now look like?
