Hello Asean Hive Community, are you a coffee lover? Have you known the oldest and legendary coffee in Aceh, Indonesia?
The oldest and legendary coffee is located in Aceh. The coffee I drink above is one of the legendary coffees in Aceh, namely Solong Coffee. This is the newest branch which has only been opened in two months, or also called kopi solong Jembatang Penayong, but I will not share your thoughts about this coffee shop, but the history and story that is very popular in Acehnese society.
Acehnese have a culture of chatting while drinking coffee in a coffee shop. Solong coffee is also a favorite of the people of Aceh. Often they say, it's not good if you haven't had coffee in Solong when you go to Aceh! Solong is indeed unique. Apart from the unusual name, the meaning of Solong is not widely known. According to Cek Nawi, the successor to the 'Jasa Ayah' coffee shop, Solong was just his father's nickname when he was still working for the Chinese in Peunayong or an ethnic Chinese residential area in Banda Aceh. the name is finally famous to this day. The majority, customers of this coffee shop call it by the name of Solong coffee. Therefore, it is more famous than the name of the shop itself, namely Jasa Ayah. Muhammad Solong or Abu Solong, founded the Jasa Ayah coffee shop since 1974, at that time there were only a few coffee shops in Banda Aceh.
The Solong coffee shop located in the Simpang Tujung Ulee Kareng area, Banda Aceh was not as busy as it is now. This coffee shop began to be widely known by people outside Ulee Kareng around the 1990s. After becoming the mascot of a coffee shop in Aceh, this shop began to be visited by many important people such as state officials, artists, and other community leaders. Most travelers who drink coffee here often talk about business issues, politics, culture, or just small talk and so on. Yes, even in this place some Acehnese gather and solve their problems. Even though it is widely known abroad, Cek Nawi as the owner of Warung Kopi Solong still maintains the quality of his blended coffee.
He still uses selected coffee beans from Pidie and Lamno, Aceh Jaya. Because it has become a tradition and culture of the Acehnese, don't be surprised if they invite tourists to join the coffee shop at Solong Coffee Shop. " That is the expression spoken by coffee fans in Aceh. It is a must for Acehnese to invite their guests to taste Solong coffee. Every day, this coffee shop is filled with tourists or local residents. The funny thing is, some say it is easier to meet officials or businessmen at Warung Kopi Solong than in their offices. Unlike other regions, an official must be reluctant to sit in a coffee shop with ordinary people. However, in Solong this will not happen.
Even though Solong is well known by the public and even abroad, Cek Nawi still maintains the traditional concept of its coffee shop. The taste of coffee is very important. That's why Solong coffee fans never decrease. When the holiday season arrives, this shop is doubly crowded. Don't miss coffee and relax at the Solong Coffee Shop while traveling to Aceh. Until now, Solong coffee has opened many branches in Aceh and even to Yogyakarta.
Thank you for visiting this post, see you in the next post.
