The day came when we have to leave Southern Spain. Our friend came to pick us up from our house at 11:30 AM, the flight would have been at 1:20 PM. It tooks us about 45 Minutes to Malaga Airport.
The day before, I got an email from Swiss confirming the flight and I was supposed to check-in online with óur baggages to be dropped-off at their counter at the airport. I checked -in online but I did not get our boarding pass. So I thought to have the seats reserved. When I came to the counter I asked for the boarding pass and she gave me only for Malaga-Zürich.. I complained because we have a connecting flight Zürich - Vienna. The ground personnel said the flight Zürich-Vienna was cancelled on that day. I checked my email and they did not inform us of the flight cancellation. Our two baggages were almost through to pass the conveyor with the label, she took them back and said that I have to go to their Groundforce personnel to find a flight going to Vienna.
Swiss is part of the Star Alliance which includes Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airways. The lady at the Groundforce searched for a flight but we would have to wait because the plane was leaving only 1.5 hours later. We took the flight and got our boarding pass at the Brussel Airways counter where we dropped -off our baggage... I had to ask for assistance to the gate because my husband has a leg issue and couldn´t walk that far to the gate. So the caddy took us to the gate and everything went smoothly, but the plane´s departure was delayed by about 15 minutes.
We were seated almost at the back of the plane that was full. But we disembarked as third batch. It was raining in Brussels, and of course our plane from Malaga arrived late. Our connecting flight was about 7:05 PM and we were supposed to be at the gate before embarkment began at six thirty PM, glad we were already checked-in while in Malaga for the connecting flight to Vienna, so they have to wait for us at any rate.
The assistant was already waiting for us at the door of the plane to get us to the other end of the Airport for our departure gate. I was so thankful that the assistance came and the guy immediately took us to our gate where the pilots were already waiting for our embarkment. We were late by almost 10 minutes but we made it and the plane taxied from the strip of Brussels Airport. I am glad that I was able to organize our assistance at Malaga Airport, at Brussels International and Vienna International.
Nothing was lost and our baggages arrived fine too, the airport guy also waited for us with his caddy to bring us to the car hire+driver..We informed the reserved car's office about the change of the flight, that one too, went smoothly. We came home after about 9:30 PM and we were dead tired. We slumbered into the bed because the event in Malaga caused us so much stress.
