If you have been following me in the past, you might remember I am a wildflower enthusiast. I love all kinds of wildflowers I see along the countryside. chamomile, bluecorn, poppies and many more. Today was one of those days that we had to stop by the roadside for me to pick wildflowers growing along the side of the road.
We went out for lunch to our favorite restaurant located in our old district. Going there we took a shortcut way passing by so many fields planted with wheat and other crops.
And I saw that the wildflowers were growing along the side of the road which has been the end of the field. I remembered that in our old district, the farmers used to plant or mix with the crops some poppies that made the field so beautiful because the red colors dominate the whole area... It was lovely that the locals went there to take souvenir photos.
And so, when I passed the road the other day, I saw that the flowers are now blooming. It is warm in the last couple of days with temps in the 30°C... Before leaving home for lunch, I asked the husband to bring along a small bucket and a bottle of water. These aere the flowers I picked, it's only a pity that the petals of the red poppies fell off because of the hot weather.
One can have a beautiful arrangement by just using what's available like the ones I picked today. I have the field poppies minus the red petals, bluecorn and the chamomile.
Are they not beautiful, especially the cone-shape top? The top fruit contains the seeds used in food processing like baking. These are not the same poppies that contain the seeds made into drugs...that one is called the opium poppy which is the key source for the narcotics drug.
Chamomile flowers, once dried can be infused with hot water, made into tea, it´s a popular beverage that offers a variety of health benefits since it is loaded with antioxidants.
keep safe and I´ll see you around.
