Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile 16.3.2022 Edition.
My thoughts changed last Sunday and instead of going to the flea market, I went to the National Park to breath fresh air. This is always a place where the locals go with their families and a special place for bikers as guided roads and pathways almost never end. There is a long biking trail of about 30Km where the roads lead to the neighboring Slovakia.
The parking lot is just in front of the bridge, no cars or trucks , no GPS are allowed to enter the area, dogs should always be on the leash and picking wild flowers are not allowed.
The Park is well managed and maintained. Although, they let the trees died off by itself for as long as it does not pose danger to anyone they would let it be. Some trunks of trees are cut and are used as barricades to stop the fast flow of water especially if the creek is being used as swimming area by the children. Parts of the Lobau area are not very deep but some boat tours are made for those who seek adventures.
Since part of the ponds are dried, some park visitors simply trail these dried ponds which are intertwined with other areas of the Lobau. Most of these dried ponds have been taken over by the reed so that the water does not flow continuously, hence, the birds lose their habitacion.
In the course of my walks, I ´ve seen that tiny flowers and leaves of trees are beginning to sprout now, so Spring is just around the corner. This tree is so old and one could see it in the structure of its trunk...
It did not rain for a long time and there wasn´t enough snow in Vienna either. Today, it rained but not that much.... so the pond above still remained dry.
They have blocked the passage of the water to stop it from flowing to the other side of the bridge which is now completely dried-off so that the swans , ducks and other birds could still have their habitat.
Well folks, I was refreshed by this walk and the facts are nature made me smile...and I thank both
