The events of Ar-Raji, The Messenger of Rasulullah SAW was trapped and then killed
in the month of Shafar in the 4th year of Hijri, the messengers of the Tribe ‘Adhal/’ Udhul and al-Qarah came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to send some of his companions to teach Islam in their region. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ then sent 10 of his companions- another narration mentions six people- consisting of Ashim bin Tsabit (as the head of the delegation), Abdullah bin Thariq, Khubaib bin Adi, Khalid bin al-Bakir, Marstad bin Abi Marstad, and Zaid bin Datsanah
When the messenger of the Prophet Muhammad arrived in the village of ar-Raji, precisely at the water base belonging to Bani Hudzail, the Bani Lahyan-who had previously been requested by the ‘Adhal/’ Udhul and al-Qarah tribes-besieged the messenger of the Prophet Muhammad. The Bani Lahyan team of 100 archers promised not to kill if they were willing to surrender. Ashim bin Tsabit and several others refused to surrender. They were immediately executed on the spot. While Zaid bin Datsinah, Abdullah bin Thariq, and Khubaib bin Adi were ready to surrender. They were then sold at the slave market in Makkah. In the end, they were also killed by the masters who bought it in revenge for the deaths of the polytheistic figures of Makkah in the Battle of Badr.
