The typhoon named Odette bombed not just Surigao but at also Southern Leyte. Though people misunderstood or didn't recognize the Eastern Visayas which is also known as Southern Leyte. Upon watching the news, the Leyte was not affected that much but the people were misinformed. Southern Leyte is not the same as Leyte, it means to say Southern Leyte was affected that much compared to Leyte.
A lot of people in Southern Leyte ask for help because the donation doesn't reach them. The donations focused on Surigao because people who were giving donations thought Southern Leyte was not the same state as Surigao. They forgot to learn that as of now Southern Leyte is in the state of calamity signed by the Governor. It just means how bad the situation is now in Southern Leyte after the typhoon.
Kids are outside raising a sign board asking for help. You can see some families are just temporary houses that were made from pieces of wood and portable plastics. It's an immediate shelter to help themselves not to get wet during rainy days. What's important for them is to make themselves fall asleep peacefully. Not all households have the money to spend on fixing houses. Some, of course, prioritize food first especially that there's no assurance when things go back to normal.
Lucky for those who still have money in their pockets. For those houses who only had minimal damages. There are still people out there who are currently suffering from shortages of food, water and house materials. All of us have hardships in life to survive in this world but what if you have extra right now to spare in helping others. What if a small amount of coins can help someone to fill their stomachs. Not much or not asking for a certain amount but as long as it can be of help. It's not wrong to knock someone's door to share what they're having.
Also, it's in Southern Leyte who is experiencing chaos, experiencing loss and experiencing hunger. Again, not Leyte but it's in Southern Leyte, just making sure no one will think that everything is okay right now. If you look in the map you can find that it's in the Eastern part of Visayas. We are being ignored and this is why it motivated me to write this post. On Facebook and any other social media platforms where most Filipino use. It's so sad to see children, adults or oldies in the streets asking for help
