Have a great day my beloved admin and community members!
It's coffee time in a sunny day! The heat of the sun this month reaches the most hottest weather without air. Its humid and not a good time for coffee. But the theme now is about coffee. I want to share with you how I made coffee for my boss. It has a bog difference compared to the coffee in my homeland with my grandfather and mother coffee addicted person.
Coffee in Saudi Arabia
When I was in the Philippines, I was not drinking any coffee or any chocolate drink made by my grandfather from our organic native cacao. We had both coffee plant and cacao tree around the house and backyard. They liked it but not me. I like water only all the day.
When I came here in Saudi Arabia, I was surprised the color of their coffee which is brown. In the Philippines, the cooked it in the pan until the color changed to black or dark brown.
And the coffee here in Saudi have no sugar at all. Only the aroma of the coffee with some special ingredient mix with it.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of coffee powder
1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder
1/2 tablespoon of ginger powder or raw ginger
1 liter of hot boiling water
It must be filled in a thermose and will consume it until it finished. There is no sugar but they usually serve it with sweets and specifically the dates fruit.
These are the ingredients for 1 liter thermose mixture of their coffee that is called "gahawa". Special coffee for them have the safron ingredient but I am not using it.
Every Friday noon, after the Friday prayer, I am serving this for my male employer. And I serve this everyday for the whole family after the sunset. Their life is not complete without coffee and tea.
When we have a party, this coffee with dates is the basic first stuff to be served to a certain visitors unless the visitor request for a bottle of water.
I am not drinking this kind of coffee or even nescafe until last year, my Ethiopian friend is so coffee addicted.
She consumed this 190grams Nescafe in one week. I tried drinking it with milk until today most especially when I don't want to sleep and I have something to do at night. It helped me became stronger and awake.
My Ethopian friend bought a coffee seeds and she roasted and powderized it and this is her new coffee drink lately. I love the aroma and I recently trying to have a cup everytime she makes it for her drinks.
The coffee of my my parent and grandparent had sugar that caused them having diabetes. It was the caused of my mother's death as she underwent dialysis because of her high sugar in her blood and affected her kidney.
I don't like coffee but I shared this with you so you will know how to make an Arabic coffee and know how and when they serve it.
This is my entry for the weekly challenge by the community.
