Dhaka, Bangladesh: In a major geopolitical development, Iran’s Armed Forces have claimed the destruction of all 17 United States military bases located in the Middle East. The bold assertion was made by Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the senior spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff.
According to a report by the Mehr News Agency, General Shekarchi stated in a late-night interview on Thursday that Iran's powerful forces have entirely dismantled the US military installations across the West Asia region. He further claimed that Washington has failed to protect its bases and military personnel.
Referencing the 12-day war imposed by Israel on Iran on June 13, 2025, Shekarchi emphasized that Tehran has since shifted its defensive doctrine to an aggressive offensive strategy.
"Over the past 47 years, Iran has not attacked any country, and we will not launch acts of aggression in the future. However, our offensive policy means that if any nation attacks us, we will strike back until they are destroyed, and we will not let them go," he explained. He noted that this strategy of punishing the aggressor will continue until the shadow of war is permanently removed from the Islamic Republic.
General Shekarchi sharply criticized the US presence in the region, accusing Washington of exploiting Middle Eastern nations for over 50 years under the false pretense of providing security. He stated that the US has sold military equipment and established bases funded by the very countries it deceived.
Speaking on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the spokesman warned that the situation will not return to its previous state, adding that Iran has set strict conditions that regional countries must fully comply with, even if the war ends.
"Our capabilities are growing stronger every day, and we are continuously upgrading our military systems to meet any challenge," Shekarchi stated. Delivering a stern warning to the US and Israel, he said they are gravely mistaken if they expect Tehran to back down.
Reaffirming Iran's commitment to its sovereignty and regional security, he issued a clear ultimatum to neighboring nations: "We respect the sovereignty of all countries and do not wish to impose our will on anyone. However, if you allow foreign powers to use your territory and airspace for military operations against Iran, you will have to bear the consequences."
