For almost a month, I've been waiting for the sun to light up the gloomy gray sky, but I think it will take a few days or more for that dream of mine to come true.
When I was kid, I used to think that the raindrops were actually tears coming from Tungkok Langit, a mythological god in heaven, living with his wife, Alunsina. According to that myth, once upon a time, they were the only creatures alive, but to cut the story short, Alunsina was then became jealous of an unknown woman whom she thought was his husband's mistress since Tungkok Langit was always busy with the world's creation, when in fact based on the story, no one's living in the world that time except the two of them.
Alunsina then left Tungkok Langit and never came back which made the latter become really devastated and cried in tears which explains why we are experiencing the rain coming from above. Aside from that, Tungkok Langit tried finding his wife by throwing his treasures above the sky, such as her comb which became the moon, and other jewelries that became the stars and other things above the sky, just to attract his wife to come back to him, but unfortunately, Alunsina never came back again.
Well, it's just a myth from Panay Island in the Philippines about the world's creation that my younger self who loves story books once believed.
Maybe, if I'm still a kid, I'll think that Tungkok Langit is now experiencing depression due to his wife's disappearance, which makes the rain pours nonstop for almost a month.
But, now that I'm old enough, I know that this rain is due to the Southwest monsoon that even if there's no typhoon, it's still raining here in Luzon.
And so with the continuous rain, I rarely go out to wander outside because it's very muddy around, unless I am Peppa Pig who loves jumping in muddy puddles (just kidding lol).
Though, I'm still grateful that we are not experiencing flooding here, thanks to the plants and trees here that sip rainwater.
With that, how do I usually spend my day with this kind of weather?
1. Taking Care of my Baby Nephew
As a first time aunt, it's my pleasure to experience being like a mom for my nephew and be part of his formative years. His mom is busy applying for her new job as a teacher and his father is busy working too, so while I'm still not busy with school, I am spending most of my time taking care of him, and cherish this moment while I can still carry him on my arms, because when the time comes that he's no longer fond of being carried, hugged and kissed, I'll surely miss this moment.
My mom and dad also take care of my nephew (their grandson), whenever they're not busy with household stuff but most of the time, I can proudly say that I am taking most of the babysitting by myself. hihi
2. Reading Books
Books are like keys for me to enter another world. A great book can help me escape from the cruel world without even moving my feet. Whenever I flip the pages, with just a blast of creative imagination, a portal in my mind will suddenly open and get me into the world I've never been before.
With this kind of weather, it's a perfect time for reading books and listening to soft instrumental music.
However, I can also do this when my nephew's asleep, because he likes us to play more and you know, whenever they're awake, babies never allow their babysitter to have their "me" time.
3. Journaling
I recently started making my own journal and with my previous post, I shared with you how I printed cute and aesthetic stickers from Pinterest as my journal stationery.
I am actually enjoying it and I can't wait to share with you a glimpse of my journaling journey as I unlock my creativity in making design templates and notes about how my day went.
With that, I decided to make a post about my journal once a week so that my blog here won't be shown as repetitive. Of course, I'll also explore other topics which I hope will entertain you, my readers.
These what make most of my routine in a day, but of course I'm also doing household chores just like sweeping the dirts on the floor, doing the dishes from time to time, and among others. I am also printing documents for my customers, though our printing business here is adversely affected due to the inclement weather.
I hope the sun will finally show up in the next few days as our rice crops are drowned in water already. We can't afford to lose what we invested on it, not just the money, but the effort that my dad (and other farmers here) exerted to plant them.
We know that the rain is a blessing, but just like the famous quote, everything that exceeds the limit, will foster negative consequences.
That's all for my blog for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Love,
Ruby
