Hello dear hivers! Welcome to my corner once again! Last weekend was really wonderful for the whole family. At last, the much-awaited swimming came true! Drawing no more, haha!
It was Friday morning when my brother, my mother, and I talked about going out for a swim on Saturday, but suddenly, at around 9:00 a.m., my 3-year-old son got a fever, so we had to back out. He suffered from diarrhea and fever, so we went straight to the pharmacy to buy medicine.
The pharmacist offered Erceflora and Pedialyte. I’m glad my son loved it since it’s an apple-flavored drink where I just added one tube of Erceflora in it. It’s a clear liquid that I poured into the Pedialyte drink. Amazing! The medicine duo worked, and on Saturday morning, my son was better!
It was almost 7:00 a.m. when we decided to push through with the weekend swimming. So basically, I called it unplanned since we didn’t have any plans yet what to prepare before we postponed it the day before. But everyone has decided to go, so we helped each other prepare the food. We just prepared rice, jackfruit cooked in coconut milk with shrimps, fried fish, and boiled ripe bananas. Within 2 hours, we were able to finish all the preparations and left home at around 9:00 a.m.
Gem’s Spring resort was just 15 minutes from our home. However, since we were actually unprepared, we needed to buy paper plates and plastic cups in the town center, including my son’s swimming floatie (salbabida). We spent around 15 minutes in the town center, so we arrived at the resort at half past nine.
My nieces and nephews were very excited that they jumped into the pool the moment we entered the Spring resort.
My son spent most of his time playing beside the pool while my nieces and nephews were splashing, jumping, and diving into the pool water.
Since my son didn’t like swimming, my niece was the one who used the swimming floatie that I bought.
We ate lunch at around half past 10, and swear, the unplanned food preparation nailed it! We were really full and enjoyed everything unplanned. We just laughed when we talked about it.
My father and brother had their drinking spree after we had our lunch.
After lunch, we continued swimming, and here I got a chance to take photos of my mother and father together. My heart was full seeing them enjoying which is a rare event because they are always busy on the farm or, if not, in selling our farm produce.
My son hated to swim, even in the kids’ pool, because he said it was deep, which I think was reasonable because it was actually deep for him, but not for kids around six to 12 years old. Despite that, I was able to take him with me and took a photo together, even if he was crying.
Aside from swimming, we also explored the beautiful garden at the back of the pool area, and so we took the opportunity to take more photos with my sister and her daughter. My son didn’t want to go with me because he was busy playing with his toy trucks with his wawa (grandma).
At a quarter to 2, we packed everything and went back home. The kids were really tired and were complaining about their skin color, haha! My son and my 2-year-old niece fell asleep while on our way.
As soon as we arrived home, all my nieces and nephews fell asleep, and everyone was snoring when I entered the room. My heart is really full that they fell asleep happy and satisfied.
This weekend swimming getaway only costs us around Php 2000 or 40 USD. We didn’t need to spend a lot to make the family happy, we just needed to let everyone feel valued and loved.
That's all for today. Thank you for dropping by my happy corner. I hope to read your stories of family adventures too!
