I want to show you about the fun I was having the day before Khmer New Year. It was so fun and I get to see some important people too.
One day before Khmer New Year day, I went to the pagoda, because my teachers asked us to. The teachers didn't show up but some teachers from other schools did. It was boring at first but soon after it is kind of fun. I meet up with my friend and some of my friends dyed their hair. It looks a bit weird.
We waited about 1 hour and then some important people came. I think the village's chief is the old man at the far left end. I don't know the rest and I ask my friend, and she also don't know who they are. I think this decoration are paid by them. A lot of students come to watch and not many adults.
The pagoda is like on a hall hill on the mountain. I used to come two or three time to the pagoda. According to a friend of mine you have to take 108 steps just to get on top of the pagoda. You can also ride to the pagoda the other way. I was always out of breath when I took the stairs it is fun though.
There are a lot of games but I only saw the break the pot game. The village chief break one first than the other guy did. After that 8 people can volunteer to be in the game. There are 5 dollars in each pot and also powder and I mean a lot of powder. There are a lot of games and dancing but I wasn't there to see it happen, because it was getting dark. Khanna did get a free shirt and skirt but I got none.
