Three months ago my two daughters and I went visit Ta Prohm temple with my Khmer family. The Ta Prohm temple is in Siem Reap Province of Cambodia. Those days we visited Angkor Thom in the morning until lunch. After we got lunch already and we went to Ta Prohm.
The distance from Angkor Thom to Ta Prohm is about 2 km or we are riding around 40 minutes with Khmer Tuk-Tuk. On the way to Ta Prohm, there are many other temples along the way.
This is the gate into the temple. The gate has four carved faces.
This is the entrance to the temple area.
This Ta Prohm has originally called "Reach Vihear", was built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in 1186.
Due to the age of the temple and the abandonment for too long, trees have grown on the body of the temple.
And it has become the attraction of many national and international guests visiting every day.
There are many temples where big trees press on the rocks temples. And other temples in other places have also but they cut some for taking of temples.
But for the temples in this area, they do not cut it. I have heard that they want to keep the trees to confirm the age of the temple and other reasons.
The roots are long and the stems are high, so it is difficult to photograph all the trees and temples. This is a original picture I do not crop it.
This tree, all the tourists who come to visit this place like to take pictures. And there are always people waiting to be photographed. I love this picture so much of SreyYuu.
This place I used to visited a few times and along time ago but I not have much pictures from there because I do not have my own camera at those times. I have some pictures from my niece and now they are very old photos.
I am very happy for I can visit this place again with my lovely family.
The temple has suffered a lot of damage, but we can still see it beautifully and wonderfully.
These are small temples in the Ta Prohm area.
These are my niece and my nephew's son and my nieceβs daughter, they are in the door of temple.
This is a statue of Buddha inside the temple, but it has lost its head. My little daughter asked me that, why all the statues lost their heads? I told her that the thief stole the head of God and sold it abroad. And she asked why they did not take the whole? I say maybe because they were too heavy, they just took the head.
I hope you enjoyed my short story and the pictures of ancient temples of Khmer ancestors left behind. Thank you for your reading and visit here. Have a wonderful weekend.
