We received a sad news last week that one of our relatives passed away. Our family don't actually engage a lot with our relatives so I am not sure how she and our mother is exactly related but we consider her like a grandma.
We were supposed to go early morning but my brother was a bit indecisive of the time, even telling me that we go in the afternoon. In the end, we went around lunch time. The weather was so warm that it hurts the skin.
However, I noticed that there were few vehicles on the road but more were lined up at the gasoline stations. There were also less public vehicles especially jeepneys. The roads felt sad and quiet. It's a different feeling.
We also went to a bank first to withdraw some cash but lucky me, the ATM ran out of cash when it was my turn. Lol. We have to go to another branch.
There were no other visitors at grandma's wake when we arrived. It was quiet and just a little noise on their kitchen area where some children were playing. We were able to speak to her son and learned her cause of death.
If I were to describe her, grandma has a really positive, light, and happy aura. She smiles and laughs a lot. When I was little my mama would ask for her service to do our laundry during weekends. We were really amazed on how fast she could wash clothes. She also worked for our little eatery business back then.
The last time I saw her was a year after my mama's death anniversary. She's welcoming as always and even held my hand. I remember she said that she always includes my mama whenever she prays. I really do hope that grandma and mama have already met and are now having a good catching up session in heaven.
We went next to a mall to eat some street foods. I bought two sticks of kwek-kwek because I missed it a lot. I also bought a stick of fishball. The stall only has one staff and while we were eating on the side we can't help but be amazed on how she could manage everything without getting confused. She cooks, serves the foods, take orders, do cashier, and calls on people passing by to buy. That lady will surely be successful one day!
Then we went to a fast food restaurant to buy take home foods. I ordered a beef siomai chao fan but when it was dinner time and opened the box, I was surprised that it was spring rolls.
We laugh it off since I was kind of craving spring rolls anyway.
On our way home, I asked my brother why it has a sweet and sour sauce packet instead of chili oil. I thought they've already changed the sauce which comes with it, then it turns out that it was literally a mistake. Lol. My fault is that I didn't open the box to check if it was beef siomai. Well, it's alright.
Death is inevitable and we will have to bid farewell to our loved ones someday. We will surely miss our grandma and her beautiful vibe.
