Greetings, Hello Everyone, Traveller and ASEAN Hive Community Members. How was your life? Hope you are well and in a good condition, so we can talk each other and do many activities with the persons we love.
As usual it’s hot today but Im glad to find the ASEAN Community in Hive. This is my first time posting here, hope you welcome me. First of all, I would like to say Happy New Year 2026 to all of you (I wish it's not too late saying it). In this occasion, I’m going to share my first travelling experience at Kota Tua in January 2026. That place is located in Jakarta, Capital City of Indonesia. For more information, the location in Google map shown below:

From the information I have got, Kota Tua Jakarta is also known as Batavia Lama, which is a historical area of Jakarta where at that time became the administration center of Dutch Colony. This wonderful place features classic European architecture style, museum and Square.
I did travelling alone by myself starting to go from Tanjung Priok Station. On there from Tanjung Priok Station, I should take the electric train, public transportation to Jakarta Kota Station. I waited the train ten minutes, and the trip to Jakarta Kota Station needed approximately 15 minutes from Tanjung Priok Station. Fifteen minutes in train and finally I arrived at Jakarta Kota Station. Because of still in holiday I was welcomed by many people. Yes, The Jakarta Kota Station was so crowded at that time. Then, I went out from that station and finally arrived at Kota Tua Jakarta, the final destination.

I saw many old building which was built by Dutch at that time and still well maintained until now. Many places were classic European architecture style. There were also a sentence “Selamat Natal dan Tahun Baru 2026” the meaning: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2026. Many people went travelling on there from Indonesian itself, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapre, Vietnam, Philippine, European, and many more. I saw the people were happy enjoying each moment, they did many activities from cycling, talking each other, walking with family members, taking some photos and enjoying the foods. As the moment was so incredible, I didn’t forget to take some photos to momorize this moment.

Walking along around here made me hungry, I wanted to eat some food, and tried to find some street food sellers. Because of too many street food choices, I was confused to buy. Dinsum? Meatball? Egg roll? Or what?. So completed foods here and I wanna buy it all. The average snack street foods was about USD 1,- to USD 5,-. For big meal price needed more. I was curious with Kerak Telor (Egg Crust) which I never ever bought it in all my life, so I chose and decided to buy it at USD 3,-.
What is Kerak Telor? Kerak Telor is a traditional, savory street food omelet from Jakarta, Indonesia, made by cooking glutinous rice, egg (duck or chicken), and spices in a small pan, then flipping it onto charcoal to create a crispy crust, and serving it topped with fried shallots, dried shrimp, and toasted coconut (serundeng). It's a beloved snack of the Betawi people, often sold at festivals and cultural events, offering a unique mix of crispy, chewy, and smoky flavors.
