Yes, unfortunately, 2022 started not so 'mabuhay'...
Today is Day 5 of my mandatory quarantine, as I physically and mentally condition myself to survive this ordeal alongside my wife (who also contracted the virus and is isolated in another room of the house). Doctors advised me to completely rest and get much fluids, supplements and exercise to boost my immune system. My co-morbidity classification (heart condition, hypertension and obesity) made my medication much more difficult, since I cannot take 'ordinary' antibiotics or vitamin/mineral supplements that might negatively affect my body.
In reality, I never thought that the mild signs in the beginning was already the actual "start" of my viral flu. All I know is that: 1. I had fever because of a bad case of cold and 2. The fever subsided a day after. That 'subsided' fever was the actual 'transition' of a generally calm situation into a massive red alert...
January 16 was the date that my doctors considered to be Day 1 of my quarantine: my body start feeling heavy: joints aching, loose bowel movement, and headaches. Surprisingly, my body temperature was still fine at around 36-37 degrees Celsius.
[The onset of my fever]
That Sunday was the last day of my comfort, as Day 2 entered, I was greeted with a spike to my body temperature to 38.4 degrees, with discomfort in the sinus area, the throat and accompanied by a very dry cough. Apparently, the Omicron variant has been in my system even days before any of the symptoms have occurred... The pondering started on how we acquired the virus, since we have been vigilant and have stayed at home for most of the time, other than doing occasional errands to run to the grocer for some supplies. Omicron got us both, and it got us at the least expected moment.
[Government facility area... getting swabbed]
If there's one thing that I can say about what I have gone through for these past few days: Omicron is NOT a simple flu. One thing that stands out for me is how quick my mucus dries up after trying to unclog my sinus with a saline solution spray. The mucus dries up so fast that it also sticks to the area of the throat that causes that itch-like sensation and thus forcing me to cough hard. If I cough too hard, I might scar my throat and again, cause another bacterial infection that can make matters worse. Sheesh...
[My digital Medical Certificate]
As the title mention, this is "Part 1 of...?", since I don't know how fast or slow will my recovery process would be. Once again, I have exhausted my Splinterlands resources (DECs, SPS and SPTs) to cover part of our medical needs for this one, but it's still a bit short for additional medicine, vitamin supplements and supplies. Sadly, a teacher's salary cannot cope up with the expenses of Covid, not to mention that the government can only provide as much as they can...
I do hope that I will be able to make a "Part 2" on this, as I continue documenting the struggle and the journey to healing and recovery.
Until next time, Cheers!
