As a country with the largest number of islands in the world, Indonesia certainly has a large number of ethnic groups. Thousands of ethnic groups in Indonesia spread from Sabang to Merauke.
Customs, cultures, even a lot of unique things and natural wealth in Indonesia.
Songket or batik? Which one do you often hear about original works from Indonesia?
Being born in the city of batik made me realize that batik is not only made in the city of my birth. Other cities such as solo, yoyga, and cirebon are the cities with the best batik producers on the island of java.
What about other places?
If what I mentioned above is batik from the Javanese tribe, there are tribes that are no less good at batik and ethnic characteristics. Dayak tribe!
In June 2017, West Kalimantan held the 32nd "Dayak Gawai Week". This festival is routinely held every year to preserve customs, culture, and introduce art to new generations. The event which includes various performances such as dance performances, in Gawai Pekan Dayak there will also be a bazaar for local products.
My friend, who was born not far from Singkawang and attended the event, bought me a piece of West Kalimantan cash green batik, and a neck bead that Dayak tribes usually wear in certain traditional ceremonies or in certain dances.
I really feel grateful to Natalia Desimoro for her kind attention, so that I can get to know more about the various ethnic groups of the archipelago.
FROM FABRIC TO PANTS
Actually, there are many ways to make cloth as comfortable clothes, including: sewing it into a shirt, dress, skirt, or pants.
Because I feel more comfortable with pants, I chose to sew this West Kalimantan fabric into cute and limited edition ethnic pants.
while the top I wear a plain black long-sleeved shirt and the same color hijab.
For beads, as for the function, I still wear them at the bottom of the neck towards the chest.
HEADBAND
For the headband, I specially bought it during the outdoor festival, a festival held for nature lovers, or outdoor sports lovers.
Before the pandemic, this festival was always held every year. It's now been two years without an outdoor festival.
I bought this at the 2019 outfest. A Dayak ethnic woven headband. There are so many climbers who use this headband as a semi-mandatory accessory, besides being useful as a headband, this ethnic headband can also be used as a marker for their carrier bag.
SIMPLE MAKEUP
Since I'm not very good at applying make-up, I only use a light foundation on my face, then a light green eyeshadow and red lipstick.
To add a sweet impression, I used cassava leaves for photography purposes.
How? Have I been like the Dayak tribe in a festival yet?
Thanks, hives for reading.
