Still on the topic of travel, and this time it’s about the food I discovered during a solo trip a while back. Of course, this isn’t anything fancy or specific to that region. It’s just a standard meal—the important thing for me at the time was that I wasn’t starving. LOL. That’s right, because it was already mealtime and I’d just stumbled upon this café. I’ve already written about this place regarding its coffee in a coffee community, but here, I want to share about the super cheap food that’s totally worth it.
So this is one dish I picked randomly at the café. Since I don’t really like overthinking food choices, I just went ahead and ordered the black pepper rice bowl. And ta-da… a bowl of rice, chicken katsu, a fresh vegetable salad, and that super-aromatic black pepper sauce drizzled over the katsu. Just from the appearance and aroma alone, I was already sure this would be delicious, and sure enough, when I took my first bite, I felt so happy because the food met my expectations
The white rice was cooked to perfection with just the right texture, paired with the warm flavor of the black pepper sauce. Not to mention the juicy chicken katsu and fresh vegetables. It’s a simple yet perfect combination. Effortlessly delicious! And what’s most surprising is the price. Just 20,000 rupiah (not even 1.5 USD) for this filling meal.
I savored it slowly because I also wanted to take a short break after walking a long way. And after this, my journey still has a long way to go. But that’s okay—I’m really enjoying this solo trip. Although the weather was a bit hot, I still felt it was within safe limits.
What do you think—is this meal really worth it? Share your experience if you’ve encountered similar things!
