Hello good people on hive...
After returning to Jakarta from my hometown, I still couldn't do any housework because I wasn't on holiday yet. So, my house was still very dirty, including the laundry that was starting to pile up. I usually do laundry, but only for work clothes. I wash my home clothes and underwear myself, using a brush and detergent. But this time, I didn't feel like doing laundry. Not only was I still exhausted from returning from out of town, but also the weather wasn't cooperating, and my underwear was running out. Ha Ha Ha…
So, I had to go to a laundromat that could dry clothes in an instant. The technology is called a coin laundry with self-service. So, here I am, at a laundromat called Jakarta Coin Laundry.
To get to this place, I'd circled around the Palmerah area twice, ordering an online taxi. The first time, I got the wrong address and ended up going back home. Then I Googled again and tried my luck again, as I'd never done laundry at a place like that before. It was interesting because I didn't have to be embarrassed about what I'd washed.
After the second try, I finally arrived. Upon arrival, the laundromat was packed with customers. Of the many washing machines, there was only one attendant. I looked for her and asked—it turned out all the machines were full, so I'd have to wait a few minutes. After waiting a few minutes, the attendant told me, and I could finally do my laundry. After loading all my clothes, I went to the payment machine. Apparently, the bill was calculated by the minute. I paid IDR 15,000 for 25 minutes of washing. After paying, I let the washing machine run and waited while I finished Looking For Alaska.
I initially thought one machine had two functions: washing and drying. It turns out I had to pay extra to dry my clothes. I paid IDR 10,000 for 10 minutes for drying. I didn't need them too dry because I could hang them up to dry indoors afterward. I didn't want to waste time, as I had to go home. Ten minutes had passed, and my clothes were ready to take home.
Instead of folding them, I immediately put them all in a laundry bag. Besides, how could I fold clothes that weren't mostly outerwear? So I took them straight home.
It was an interesting experience to do my own laundry, without having to wait until tomorrow, when my clothes would be ready to wear again. However, compared to a regular laundry service, this method is a bit pricey, but it can be a solution if you need them quickly.
Anyway... Hasta La Vista...
