How spontaneous can you be? Well, it depends on who's going or the situation that you are having. In the past few weeks I haven't had a chance of going anywhere since it was declared as alert level 3. Most of the places are very strict about accepting visitors. The situation stops me from exploring the places. The idea of meeting my friend on Saturday was a blessing in disguise. I got invited to go on a day hike; I keep smiling out of excitement. Whenever I hear the word hike, it is like a church bell that reminds me of greatness.
I can say that my friend is more like a Filipino than me because he has been to many places in the Philippines and made a lot of local friends than I do. On this trip we did a lot of cutting trips to get to the mountains via jeepney and a lot of walking around the market to find a carinderia that sells vegetables dishes. I'm a little bit grumpy. I suggested that we could eat Jollibee for breakfast. He laughed at me, telling me to eat healthy foods and support locals instead of getting fast food. I like that he has this kind of mindset. I'm convinced. For the past few days since I moved to another place from my auntie's place, I was desperate, looking for a vegetable dish and guess what, I ordered the delicious jackfruit meat.
I didn't lead the way, my friend did, so I had no idea which mountain we were going to, not knowing that I had been here, the same mountain that my cousins took me on my first week in Manila. However, this would be a different experience because it's hiking. I'm going to walk a lot to the mountains from the highway crossing. It's fine, I'm enjoying the scenery on the way and also the sky is gloomy and the weather was comfortable enough to walk to the mountains. You will not be able to shorten your breathing since the weather is so nice. There's no turning back; this is it. The game has begun. No pain, no gain.
My only regret is that I didn't even do the stretching or exercise before I did the hike. I'm joking to my friend that night that if I can split it means I'm good for hiking, but the truth is I'm walking slowly but surely we arrived at our destination. The Mt. Kulis entrance fee was paid 200 pesos for the sight seeing. If you were going to ask me if it's worth it? I don't think that's worth the price; the place is overrated. The mountains have always had different beauty like different forms of landscaping, and this one was fine.
It would be nice if they fully constructed the shade house there so everyone could sit and rest then enjoy the view. There was no shade at the top. However, they have smallest bungalow for staying overnight if you feel like it. For me, it was like a chicken house too small for me and for you.
At least once in a while you can try to be a spiderman. The Spider Web for picture taking, but you take off your shoes, when your feet are hurting. It was fun to try how it feels to be on the spider web. It hurt my feet; the rope was too hard to step onto. Reaching the top was a relief and I loved the views even though I got sunburnt: It was still enjoyable.
Looking at this place would be perfect for camping and not for a day trip. On the other hand, I can go back whenever I can, especially now I know how to get here by commuting. I see some of the people were staying overnight. They would be very lucky to watch the sunrise and the sunset because there were no behind tallest mountains or forests. The clouds will also touch the mountains at some point.
I had a stressful week trying to land another job. I'm now fully recharged thanks to nature. And my bully friend makes me laugh a lot. He kept on teasing and pranking me a long the way. I already forgot how many kilometers I walk. It was nice to have a companion that had a lot of patients too.
If I could walk like 5 times faster, we could still go to the waterfalls that are about 1 hour away. Even if I want to give up at the back of my mind, please don't you dare to disappoint your friend, so I'm still in the game. On the way down to the waterfalls it was very steep. Eventually we have to decide to go back and instead we are going to find an overlooking cafe to spend the rest of the day. There are a lot of coffee shops; It's like the central highway in Cebu. There are so many options, but also the busiest places of the weekend where everyone is trying to get fresh air and relax in the mountains so they can get away from the bustle city.
What an amazing weekend getaway. I hope all of you had a great weekend with your loved ones or your own peace.
Please enjoy the view before the sunset dawn. My trip will end here. I will see you next.
If you have been with me since the beginning of my Hive journey. I will thank you. I really want to reply to all your comments, but I have limited power to do so; I am always experiencing errors. I hope I can freely respond to all of you soon. Take care.
