You've probably heard that Thailand has finally legalized cannabis, and it's been almost a year – maybe even over a year. My friends and I decided to open our own cannabis dispensary because my boyfriend and his buddy, whom he met in Chiang Mai, happen to be very experienced growers from California.
Besides our spot, the Spot Cannabis Dispensary in Nimman, I am always enthusiastic to explore dispensaries throughout Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai, as we have quite a lot being an expat and digital nomad hub.
Some people I met were worried about how dispensaries in Thailand would look, but they found some even fancier than where they're from, like Canada. I agree, some of the dispensaries here are over the top. The one I'm presenting to you today is one of those: Khanom,
K-H-A-N-O-M in Thai means snack or dessert
They claim to be a 24-hour social club located near Chiang Mai's nightlife area, and it's open 24 hours.
When I got there, I was wowed by a gigantic mushroom in front of the place, signaling what they serve besides cannabis #hehe. Inside, I saw a big jar of tobacco, which is not quite legal in Thailand yet to carry it along with cannabis in one place.
This place is going wild with an antique, old-school look, filled with nostalgic gimmicks like candy, vibes, drinks, and herbs. Decorated in neon colors, I find it uncomfortable, but some might like it. Its unique appearance probably attracts tourists.
They also have different floors with Thai old-school mattresses and cushions for hanging out, and a very cool rooftop with a view of Chiang Mai's famous Doi Suthep. It's not the most comfortable, but it's pretty cool.
I recommend checking out other dispensaries here in Chiang Mai or in Thailand in general as they are going above and beyond. Kanom is one of them – go check it out, and let them know the Spot sent you! :)
