Hello my lovely asean hive community,
It's been a while since I last saw you. I've been working on other things, so I haven't used Hive for about 5 months. I started using Hive during the Covid period. In the meantime, due to the political situation in our country, I'm still on hiatus from university. So, I've been working on various jobs in the meantime. Now I'm starting my own business. I'll tell you more about that later. Today I'm going to tell you about an edible root I dug up from my garden.
The edible root that I dug up from the garden with my father today is a root called arrow root. I have shown a picture of that root above. In the area where I live, they eat that root as a snack. Do you have that root in your area? And do you eat it?
My father planted these plants last year. Last year, our family received a lot of arrowroot as a gift. My father grew some of the more edible arrowroot. Normally, other people let the plants grow freely in the ground. Our yard is not that big, so we can't give them enough space for arrowroot. However, my father wanted to grow the extra arrowroot we had, so he planted it in plastic bottles.
Today my dad and I dug up those arrowroots. The leaves on those arrowroots are similar to those on the leaves of the fennel. The leaves are now dry, so we are ready to dig up the roots. My dad had already cut those leaves about a week ago. So, as shown in the picture, only the stem remains.
First, my father removed a little of the top soil from the pot. As you can see in the picture, small roots are starting to appear. He was careful not to damage the larger roots inside.
Then my father grabbed the stem of the plant and pulled it. When he did so, all the arrowroot inside came out as you can see in the picture.
There was still some arrow rot in the soil, so I had to remove all the soil from the pot. As you can see in the picture, small arrow rots appeared again.
The picture above is of the arrow rot we dug up today. The arrow rot is small because the plants were not allowed to grow freely but were planted in pots. These arrowroots are very rich in fiber and are a little expensive. And they are also delicious. Do you eat arrowroots in your area? That's all for today. I will tell you how to cook arrowroots the next day.
