We were so excited to have a family overnight stay at DCCCO Hotel. A rare treat for our family. My husband and his family planned for this and it made me happy and excited. We arrived at DCCCO at 10 am. The Check-in was smooth and the receptionist explained the hotel rules. Honestly, I wasn’t paying close attention because I was busy wrangling with my energetic kids. Luckily, four of us are DCCCO Cooperative members so we had 10% discount. The receptionist showed our rooms-a deluxe room and family-sized room for my in-laws.
The kids were excitedly launching themselves onto the beds upon entering the room. We had lunch at the hotel then in the afternoon, we ordered pizza and clubhouse sandwiches for snacks. I noticed that the crumbs scattered and choco drink stain in the bedsheet-kid’s testament of enthusiasm.
Look at those cute faces. The kids were all excited.
That evening, we had hotel’s night swimming. The kids want to stay in the pool all night. Haha but dinner at 8 pm called. The foods was plentiful, delicious and affordable too. We were exhausted but happy. We all went to bed around 10 pm already.
We check out at 11 am and was expecting for a smooth departure. To my surprise, ₱2,900 penalty for the stained bed coverings in both rooms. Of course, the playful kids were the culprit. I spoke to the receptionist who explained that it was clearly stated in the rules. (Which I admitted I hadn’t fully absorbed all the rules.) In short, my husband paid the penalty and we left at the hotel.
Look at the bedcover, those were the stains from choco drink of the kids.
The whole experience was fun and a lesson learned. While all of us strived for a budget friendly vacations, overlooking hotel rules can quickly negate savings. From now on, I will read and understand the rules before settling. The memories of our family fun at DCCCO will always be a reminder to always read the fine print!
